You may have your tension set way too high for the thread. Try loosening both top and bobbin tension and see if that doesn't help. Also you may be using too small a needle for that thread. I can't guide you on needles because I don't know what kind of needles that machine uses.

Make sure it is threaded right and not catching on something. I use Glide thread.

If the top thread is breaking loosen the top thread only see if that works
