Is this blue too dark?

I have been wanting to make a Warm Wishes pattern for myself. I have finally figured out that I really prefer two color quilts. But....do you think the blue is too dark in the strips on this? I have just cut out enough to get a feel for it, as that seems to be the only way I can even begin to visualize a quilt.

I'm not sure why you would think it is too dark.
It looks like it picks up the darker blue in the mix of the print.
You have a good contrast to frame the blocks and it is creating a nice linear and tailored look.

I think it is perfect! Love it.

QuiltnNan 11-10-2013 07:40 AM

i think it looks great

Dina 11-10-2013 07:45 AM

Thanks, I just needed to hear from someone else that it looked okay. It is darker than I had visualized, but...I do have trouble visualizing. The design wall in my head needs some work, I think. :)

I do that, too. Which is why I have so many stray 3 1/2" squares. :(

If you're trying to emphasize the striped part, you have the right color, I think, but if it's the squares, it's too dark. The geometric lines are the first thing I saw, if that helps any.

It's definitely a pretty combination.

Hugs,
Charlotte

Beauriful. I think it is perfect!!!

It looks perfect to me. The blue and white stripe is a good contrast, it was a great idea to photograph it, if it had been too dark, it would look that way in the photo.

knlsmith 11-10-2013 08:27 AM

Looks just right to me, also! :)

Tartan 11-10-2013 08:46 AM

I like it! A lighter blue would make the white and blue blocks look kind of washed out.

LyndaOH 11-10-2013 09:43 AM

I think it's perfect - don't change a thing!

Dina 11-10-2013 10:08 AM

Thanks again, cutting out the rest of the blocks and pieces next!

I love the blues. I think they are great. Not to dark, not to light.
Hope you share the quilt when it is complete.
I love the pattern.

pelikanbus62 11-10-2013 10:54 AM

I do not think it is to dark. You need a contrast so the colors do not look to washed out. Blue is one of my favorite colors.

DeMaris 11-10-2013 11:28 AM

It could go either way, but I like it the way it is!!!

rebeljane 11-11-2013 03:34 AM

Looks great to me

Battle Axe 11-11-2013 03:59 AM

This blue give it a bold look. If you want a softer quilt, then get a lighter blue, but this one is fine the way it is.

It seems to me that the darker solid blue brings out the "other" blue in the print squares. You have a white, a light blue, a medium blue, and then a darker blue. Wow! Now that's careful planning of colors!

piepatch 11-11-2013 04:47 AM

It isnot too dark! In fact, I think it is absolutely perfect!

Bamagal 11-11-2013 04:47 AM

I adore the dark blue!! Makes the whole quilt stand out!!

quiltmom04 11-11-2013 05:00 AM

If the darker blue was not that dark, it would blend in to the flowered fabric and you would not get the striped look of the other blocks. I think you chose well!( I bet once you saw this in the photo it looked better, didn't it?)

WMUTeach 11-11-2013 05:02 AM

I like it because you can see the beautiful pattern of the quilt.

solstice3 11-11-2013 06:07 AM

If the photo colors are accurate, I think it is perfect

I also agree. I don't know why you are second guessing yourself. You have a light, a medium and a not very dark. Having those types of shades are usually good reference to a lovely quilt. It certainly looks like a nice simple patterns which are the kind I LOVE !! Thanks for asking this question!

racerh 11-11-2013 06:57 AM

I agree that if you chose a lighter blue I think it would be washed out - I like it and think you will to when it is complete! Nice job :)

cpcarolyn 11-11-2013 07:10 AM

I think its great. Will be a beautiful quilt when finished.

tessagin 11-11-2013 07:12 AM

I thought you stated dark. More of medium but love how it's turning out!.

MargeD 11-11-2013 07:59 AM

I think the colors are great and the blue isn't too dark - it's going to be a pretty quilt.

That's really pretty. It looks nice and 'fresh'.

huntannette 11-11-2013 09:01 AM

I think it is perfect!

pokeygirl 11-11-2013 09:08 AM

I like it!

Carol34446 11-11-2013 09:14 AM

I love it, lighter would not have the contrast.

matraina 11-11-2013 09:46 AM

No, I think it's beautiful!

milikaa1 11-11-2013 11:09 AM

No, I think it is perfect :).

Tiggersmom 11-11-2013 11:14 AM

I think it's fine! You need contrast in a quilt or it will all look flat and boring. jmho.

fmhall2 11-11-2013 01:23 PM

I think it is a great color to go with the other blocks. I would like that myself. Keep going with it. Lovely.

bjchad 11-11-2013 01:33 PM

Looks great the way it is.

fangman 11-11-2013 03:17 PM

I think its great.

Dina 11-11-2013 04:32 PM

Thanks again, everyone. I am well into this quilt top now. The blue looks very good! So....thanks for all your help. I appreciate you letting me know that it looks okay. (Just needed more input than mine....:) )
