Cheshire Cat 02-09-2011 09:51 AM

I have only been here since the end of January and I have already learned:

What real hand quilting looks like.
How to test for fabric bleeding.
How to make hexagons. (made a block for applique)
Paper peicing! (BOM made 2 blocks already!)
How to make my own pattern! (with all the math!)

And lots of other things.

I thought I knew how to quilt.
Now I am learning how to quilt!

But there is a problem... Now I want my own sewing room, a cat and a long arm.

Grama Lehr 02-09-2011 09:52 AM

You go girl!!! You are a true Quilt Addict!! :-D

Well...I've got 2 out of 3...hmm...now where can I put a long arm. Think hubby will give up the 3rd car garage & park his motorcycles outside??

tjradj 02-09-2011 09:56 AM

This sure makes learning fun doesn't it. If you're this addicted already, hmmm, maybe you want to stay away from the Vintage Machine shop or you'll be collecting those along with us LOL !

roseOfsharon 02-09-2011 09:57 AM

LOL, You are on the mark! I too want, want, want!! I have found that reading here is always a learning experience as well as a "I need one of those too!" or "I really would like to make that!"

bjeriann 02-09-2011 10:00 AM

One thing I hope you learn is that you have alot of new friends here.

Welcome to the board everyone who is new to us. It is a wonderful place to share and learn and make friends. It is addicting and there is not a 12-step program for withdrawing so be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry careful. LOL

Yooper32 02-10-2011 03:51 AM

Too late. I am hooked! Was getting up at 4:30 in the morning so I wouldn't miss anything.

Well, I have the sewing room, don't want the cat, but want a long arm. I love it here too

Ricki 02-10-2011 05:40 AM

the perfect life for sure

Baloonatic 02-10-2011 06:35 AM

Three cats, silly girl! One for each project you're actively working on. Hmmmm, I guess I'm gonna need a few more....

tweezy50 02-10-2011 07:10 AM

I have found that I have saved money by being here, also.

I love it when the others post sites that are having sales, or hints on homemade items. Making my own starch has saved a bunch of money! Buying my blades at Harbor Frieght has worked out well. Getting patterns for blocks free! I could go on, but have to get back to sewing!!

lillybeck 02-10-2011 07:49 AM

I have learned a lot here too. I also have 5 daughters and 3 sons

ShirlinAZ 02-10-2011 08:01 AM

I thought I knew how to quilt before I found the board. What a beginner I am!LOL I'm trying to figure our where to put a long arm too. DH already took the garage for his boat. We rent so adding on isn't an option, and our lease has 2 more years on it. Got to figure out how to rearrange the living room. I love all you enablers!!!

Heartwarming quilts 02-10-2011 09:30 AM

Welcome on board! Maybe a little dog instead of a cat? I sure love mine. He too likes to pretest everything and he doesn't jump on the ironing board and knot the iron over. He is as soft and does not shed!
The proud owner of the other kind.

PATTIESPEARL 02-10-2011 10:21 AM

I have all that and the Cat! I just need the long arm!

mimee4 02-10-2011 11:34 AM

You learn so fast. I'm happy there's more like me on this board. (smiles all around)

davis2se 02-10-2011 02:25 PM

Holy Cow. I've been here for several years and haven't learned all of that. Maybe I need to start spending even MORE time on this site??

Grandma Peg 02-10-2011 02:41 PM

Good luck with your wants.

Doris Sumnicht 02-10-2011 02:41 PM

All of your comments make my day EVERY DAY when we exchange ideas and information. I especially appreciate those who have shared their life's experiences, even when it is not easy to do so. We are a family with similiar interests and problems.

Nickky 02-10-2011 03:59 PM

I have learned alot here too,and and I too have a cat. Makes it all the more fun.

darleneerickson 02-10-2011 04:32 PM

for the cat, go to Petfinder.com. People get all kinds (some purebreds) and give them up. Price is very reasonable, they have shots and are spayed or neutered - also, usually they are very grateful to have a home!

huntannette 02-10-2011 04:40 PM

But there is a problem... Now I want my own sewing room, a cat and a long arm.

Ha ha ha !!!! ditto!!!!

fayzer 02-10-2011 05:31 PM

I LOVE it here. Waiting on my fabric to come in the mail. I can't wait to get started. I'm sure I will need help and I know just where to go.
