there is a screw, its on the bobbin case. If you are having the needle break, you are going too fast,When I started that was happening and my teacher said to slow down and sure enough that helped.

I took a class and we were told to keep the feed dogs up. i've done FMQ with them up and also down. a darning foot or spring foot must be used. they have a spring on the shaft. also before beginning, bring up the bobbin thread and hold onto it and the top thread, take a few stitches, then clip those threads and start FMQing.

Well, I feel better. Was feeling totally stupid for having done so many with the dogs up. Dogs down method is working fine, but I do feel I have more control with them up. At least now I have a choice and can try something different if Plan A isn't working. And believe me, last night Plan A was NOT working and the great people on this board got me going again.
