I use the bobbin winding function on my machines. For sewing on my DSM this is what I use.

I also have a special bobbin winder for my HQ 16 which will fit other than just the M sized bobbins. This one has a foot pedal that I added.

I almost always use my bobbin winder. I laughed at my husband when he suggested what a useful gadget it would be.
however I finally bought one Im one of those people who really investigates purchases of gadgets they usually wind up collecting dust. however this one paid off I no longer have to stop it seems like every 5 min to make a bobbin I also keep bobbins made up ahead of bobbins I use all the time like white black and off white. I even depend on the one at my mil sewing house too hardly anyone touches it but me lol. and yet again I get the honor of saying yes honey you were right lol.

I bought a separate bobbin winder but not too happy with it. Winds my bobbins the wrong way although the instructions say it winds all types of bobbins.

I use the one on my machine.

Just wind several at once.

I use the sidewinder for bobbins on my Kenmore. Its bobbin winder died and it was cheaper to buy the sidewinder than to fix the Kenmore. The sidewinder looks cheap and flimsy, but it works well.

I use the bobbin winders on my machines. Because, as a lefty, I have trouble threading my Featherweight, each time I clean and oil it, I wind 8 to 10 bobbins. I don't want to unthread the needle to wind bobbins on the Featherweight so I wind them when I have to unthread the needle anyway. Since I use the Featherweight only for piecing, bobbins with neutral color thread work (white, cream, tan, & black).

I use a "Sidewinder" to thread my bobbins. I love it.

I use the bobbin winder on my machine, a Janome, and it works great. If I'm just starting a project, I will wind several bobbins at once.

I bought a sidewinder and it isn't worth the time it takes to use it. I would never recommend it to anyone for anything at anytime for any reason. Mine will probably go in a donation box.
