Border Blues
 

I don't usually put borders on my quilts, but something about this one tells me it needs one (or 2) Suggestions???

I would add a moderate inner border and then one more just a bit wider. Maybe light on the inside one and darker for the outside. That would frame it up nicely.

Beautiful quilt, but I agree with you. I think it needs a thin, then a thicker border to take it to the next level. It looks unfinished as is.

I would put a very narrow (1/4") stop border in a contrasting color (maybe orange if you're really daring) and then a wider one in a coordinating blue (maybe a wild floral?) and then a dark blue binding. What fun to plan other people's quilts!

Hmm, there is a tiny coral flower in one of the prints...

I would add a sky blue border to bring out the accent color from the darker colors in the quilt. Then a dark binding. It would make it pop and show a "silver lining" to the quilt's personality.

I always feel my quilts don't look finished until I add the border. I once took a class where the teacher said it's like framing a picture. Every quilt needs one.

This quilt is so lovely and cool all on it's own. I think you could get away with no borders, just a binding and consider it done! On the other hand, I don't think a border would be bad either, it really could go either way. However, if you are going to go with a border, I don't think it should be too busy. Your quilt is pretty busy in both design and fabrics. That is what you want to shine. I think I would do a solid border, not super wide, just to frame it as it were, and then either a contrasting outer border or just binding that picks up on the colors inside. Audition some fabrics before you make your choice. Truly, I vote no border as it really is lovely the way it is and makes a statement all it's own.
