I like the brick pattern you are thinking of adding and the idea to reduce the pink and add another. I hate it when the borders are waving at me. Good luck with your fix! If the borders still have a little wave in them when your done, that can be quilting out by lots of piano key quilt stitching.

Looks like a lot of work. I think any of the suggestions already given would work. Will be a pretty quilt when fixed.

The bond pattern is a great idea.
I was just thinking - would it be possible not to have that large blue border - maybe devide it up with a row or two of the bond pattern? maybe have the last border be 6 to 8 inches and still use the corner squares.
I'm new to quilting so you maybe don't want to read my idea.

A 4 inch border of the deep rose would frame the whole thing and "ground" it.

Being that it seems as though you are doing major surgery ... here's another thought!

The corner squares ... are they the same size as those in the centre? If so, move them to make a fifth row. Then borders ... and I too think the dark rose needs to be in the borders for the flow, and framing!

My idea:
I would take off that blue border and add your 4" there. I'd like to see a different fabric in there - darker with the blues and pinks. Use 4" cornerstones. Pink? Then cut up that blue. I'm including a quilt I made and I was in a mess. I only had 1 yd of focus fabric and I came up with this border - a fussy cut cornerstone - with that fabric running as a strip bordered by two equal strips. I had to use more fussy cut squares because my strips weren't long enough. Just make the center smaller (and use the new fabric) then the two borders on each side. I think all that plain blue is boring and adds nothing to the quilt. I'd love to be given that job. I must have a twisted mind - I love challenges.

This morning (ironically) I also thought about adding a 5th row - The quilt is going to be folded over the pillows when the bed is made and thought it would be pretty to have those 4 squares on top of the pillows.

I also am not real happy w/ that large amount of blue - so your ideas are wonderful....

I also love a challenge and i'm looking forward to fixing/finishing this.

Reduce the 1st pink border to 3 inches wide
Reduce the rectangular squares to also 3 inches wide, but add a 2nd row in a running bond type pattern
Add another pink border that is 3 inches wide.

I completely concur with this idea. The most important of it would be adding another pink border to stop the rectangular squares. As it currently sits, they seem to go off to la la land. This is exactly what I would do as well.

I agree , that would give you the 4 " around that you need with the blue after then finish it with the binding of the pink, I love that pattern its great

I am on the east side of Cincinnati.
Another idea - make gorgeous pillowcases, either quilted bands or monograms on the bands. Then the quilt goes to the end of the bed and the pillowcases are on top. All my gift quilts have pillowcases and I think they are loved more than the quilt.
