This border fabric-yay or nay?

It mostly has all the colors from the top but instead of pink, it has orange. When I look at it that's all I see but I don't know that I'd find anything closer. Another option is to use a solid border (I think I have enough of the dark brown I used for the stripes).

I can't tell from the pic if the background color for the border is black or brown. As long as it's the same as the window sashing, I think it's perfect. :)
Cute quilt! |
They're both brown but the stripes are a darker brown. I don't have a shop here so I have to order online, and sometimes I have to make an uneducated guess about whether or not something will match. lol
I would probably go boring and put an inner thin pink border and then an outer brown one--but probably solid brown, even if I were tired of brown.
I think put a dark brown strip first, to frame it, then the border. I am sure whatever you do will be lovely!
I think it looks quite nice. If it were me, I'd want to try it with a larger print for the border, just to see if that might be preferable, but I think it works really well. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't care for the plain brown.

I think the dark brown solid fabric would be stunning, but the medium one is nice, too. It's just a different look... more casual & playful.
FYI ... some sites will give you Pantone color numbers so you can get more exact color matches. :) |

ooh good ideas! Okay here are some of the other combos mentioned (I don't have a bigger print on hand with these colors).
i would go with the pictured print, not the solid.
I'm odd man out here. If you don't need the border for size - I like the narrow brown strip then I'd bind it in the same brown. It is a beautiful quilt!
I too would go with the border print. The solid border is ho hum.
I like the narrow dark border and then the print. Makes a nice frame.
I vote for the pink small border, then the solid.
It may be the picture, but the print reads as orange to me. I don't see anything to tie the darker pinks with it. |

I like the print, no inner border and bind in the dark brown. Very nice quilt!
If the narrow border was a color in the print(yellow or blue)I think the print fabric would look better.Wonderful quilt you made!
I really like the narrow dark brown strip, then the print. Gives your eye a place to rest.
HA... after reading all these posts, you are bound to be totally confused!
Trust your instincts! And do what makes you happy. |

I like the print border next to the small dark brown one. Looks great.
I vote narrow brown border + print.
Hmmm, lets see, to continue the confusion, I'd go with any of those light pastels for the thin inner border then the larger print. Love the quilt.
Thanks everyone! although it does seem like I'd be more confused (lol) I think I will audition a few other solids but ultimately will likely go with the narrow dark brown (seems to finish off the pattern of the sashing nicely) and then the print or nothing.
Do you have enough of the pink to use it as the boarder? I would make a narrow border from the dark brown to frame the centre, then use pink for the border. IMHO the brown is too dark to be wide and would take away from your centre.
I love the design of your quilt. I think I would put either a narrow pink or a narrow dark brown before I used the print. It is so nicely done.
Hate the print. You definitely need a solid border.
I like the brown strip and then the printed brown. The plain colors are just too boring.

I am inclined to say..... Yea!
I also like the narrow brown border with the print. Your quilt looks lovely!
I don't like the border print at all. It detracts from the pretty quilt and doesn't match at all. Just my opinion.
I like the one solid dark border. It really enhances the graphics of the quilt. Pretty quilt by the way.

I love the small pink and larger dark brown borders.
Pictured print gets my vote.
I vote for the solid brown like in the quilt.
I like the print border and the thin brown solid inner border
I would do the thin brown border and use odd sized pieces of the leftovers from your quilt for an outside border.
