It does not matter how old we are, how long we have been sewing and/or quilting, there are mistakes we have all made along the road. Just smile and give it a shrug, you luckily plan ahead and have plenty of time to fix it : )

I always use a piece of lightweight fusible interfacing to fix those mistakes I make, if the batting is cotton. I never liked the zig zag because I could always feel it. This method, you don't feel anything and it is secure especially after you have quilted. A few days ago, I bought a half of yard of this gorgeous purple batik. I need to cut one strip for binding. I cut right down along the fold line. BOO HO !!!

While I haven't done this one, I have done many others and am sure I will do many more. As long as I learn from my mistakes, and don't repeat them (too often LOL), I figure it is all in the process of quilting and life!

That does sound so much better. I've had a phenomenal amount of painful learning experiences, some I had to experience more than once just for clarification!

I wouldn't worry too much about it, as you can easily zig-zag stitch the batting together by hand or machine, or use the tape I've seen advertised to put the batting back together. It's just a simple matter to correct, as I often piece batting to get the right size for a quilt.

You scared me tooo. My first thought when I read you laid them out on the bed was that you cut your bedspread or comforter! Whew! what a relief. The batting can easily be sewn back together or like you've already posted buy more batting. I don't dare get scissors or a cutter near my bed when laying my top out to see how it looks or fits on my bed, I would definitely be one who might just cut the bed covers.

If I'm understanding you correctly, since the last quilt I made, I'm going to cut ALL my battings in thirds. It really really cuts down the bulk when I fmq by machine
