Here's an idea: http://www.favequilts.com/Quilts-For...Quilt-for-Baby

It's quick, rather striking, but so personal! (You could use repro fabrics, modern fabrics or whatever colors the parents want.) In addition to the name, or in place of it, applique on a silhouette of a rocking horse. (Google "rocking horse silhouette.") I don't know why I find the rocking horse idea so appealing, but you could easily add, instead, a ball, a train engine or a few blocks, whatever strikes your fancy... THe silhouette doesn't have to be huge and it could be put in center or at angle off center...just play with a paper cut-out first.

Why not an I SPY quilts. There are tons of novelty fabrics. Ought to be easy to decide.

love this one. I think I'd cut the strips one shy of a full set and start the next set after that. Add plenty of co-ordinating fabric.

Love the Jane fabric. It would lend itself well to a Warm Wishes or anything like that. I used a piece of Dick and Jane to do a child's quilt for a special charity. Most of the pictures show the children with some type of toy. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Fat Cat Patterns has some cute blocks -- cars, trucks, trains. The patterns are for fusible applique. Another suggestion is to look for coloring books with antique cars, etc., that you can use for patterns.

Well, the footer to this one did not come up in the quote, but it is really cute!

I promise not to buy any more fabric until I see something I really like. Or it's on sale. Or I think it might match something.
