Those are really cute. I have lots of buttons as well, some very old ones that would make neat blocks. Thanks for sharing.

What a fantastic way to display vintage buttons

thimblebug6000 06-15-2011 04:15 PM

Looks kind of funky, but how would you quilt it with the buttons on it?

Why not quilt it first and then put the buttons on afterwards? Or use the buttons as part of the quilting. They can anchor the material just like regular stitches could.

kathdavis 06-15-2011 07:57 PM

What a neat idea? I would probably quilt beforehand and then sew on the buttons. Awesome way to display those vintage buttons.

Cute. You should starch your fabric before you cut it out to stop the fraying.

pojo53 06-16-2011 04:06 AM

That is cute.
I take a little box of hexagons with me.

Tinabodina 06-16-2011 04:19 AM

brendadawg 06-16-2011 06:34 AM

I have been looking for a portable project -- and I think I just found it. Thanks so much for sharing.

SittingPretty 06-16-2011 06:34 AM

That is so cute! Now I know what to do with all those buttons I have. Some are just too impractical to use, either wrong size or not enough for a project. Hey, I bet you could use some to spell words, like "sew" or "create." Wouldn't that be fun?

nwm50 06-16-2011 07:17 AM

a trip to the goodwill is in order today to find me some buttons!! Cute idea...

IBQUILTIN 06-16-2011 07:20 AM

Great idea. I now know what to do with all of those cat buttons I've been collecting.

Mariposa 06-16-2011 12:43 PM

Great idea! I'd quilt it first, then add the buttons. Neat way to display some pretty vintage buttons!

quiltingnana1 06-16-2011 01:22 PM

gramquilter2 06-16-2011 03:18 PM

What a cute idea, I am going to try this with my 5 year old granddaughter who just finished piecing her first quilt. She wanted buttons on her quilt but this will be a fun project too! Maybe we will do it as a counting quilt, so many buttons on each block.

dotcomdtcm 06-16-2011 04:35 PM

great idea
