The colors look good with the light colors. If your looking for color, why not add some hunter's orange to keep with the theme.

I like the light colors with the others.

I make a lot of male quilts, I too would add some rust. I like both selections of fabrics, but be careful about going to "white" with all the darks. Maybe a little more cream in the lights? I do love your fabrics.

I like your colors, but I might see if I could find some digital camo to use since it comes in light, medium, and dark tones. Just a thought....

I also agree with leaving out the "white" colors. You could go with some lighter greens or greys to act like shadows. It would blend like camo.
Several different patterns would work depending on the effect you are looking for. |
Adding the lighter colored fabrics give it some punch - go for it.

I am sure he will like anything you sew for him... Depending on how big you make the Blocks you could put narrow strips ( 2 inches) between the Blocks... you could make the Blocks large ones 8 to 12 inches depending on the Size you are making... even just varied Width lengthwise strips would look good... EX: 2 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch, 3 inch, 5 inch, 2 inch strips all the way across - the length of the Quilt... then bind in one of the more Dark colors.... you could quilt bears , deer, elk, Mountain Goats, Cabins, canoes etc in the lighter colors... to make it Fun....

I come from a family of sportsmen and have done my share of hunting over the years, My idea of camo is to make ones self blend into your surroundings. While the lights and whites would give it some pop, it would also "not" be camo. They do have the tan background camo that would give it a little spunk though.

Be glad he only wants a quilt...my dh decided to paint his truck camo...!!!
