I grew up in the country (sticks) on a dirt road. There were some folks that pinned a cotton ball to their screen door as they said it kept the flies away. Mom was born and raised in Chicago, so she didn't go for a lot of the southern tricks, so to speak, therefore, we never used the cotton ball on the screen door. Does anyone have any idea if this trick worked or not with the flies? Mary

I will have to try this -- if DH doesn't think it is too crazy to go with. I hate the flies!!

thanks for the tip! Just hung one up on my front porch, now to see if it works!

Now to find something that easy and safe for the environment for mosquitoes.

will have to try this-too bad I did not know this when I lived in Australia. The Australia National salute is a hand wave in front of the face to move the flies along!!
Flies are pesky little things-wonder if this also works for no-see-'um's or midgies as some call them. |
Anybody have a cure for mosquitos that buzz around my front yard swing? i hate to spray stuff on my skin but tired of being a pint low all summer long.

I had totally forgot about my Mom doing this in Missouri where the flies are a real problem. I don't have a problem with flies but I am going to try it against ladybugs. We get more than our share of ladybugs for some reason.
