I put all my quilting needs in a plastic pouch in my 'checked' luggage. I most always fly Southwest and have NEVER had any issues. Last visit to Florida, my dad gave me his "Bakelite" 1940's table top radio. The good folks in handling kept it safe and secure. On board, I usually carry a cuticle scissor if I'm doing any hand work during the flight.

LOL! I thought your rotary cutter had flown off on it's own to another destination--like it was now lost. It didn't click--DUH! The handle can fly, but not the blade. I wouldn't pay $50 (25 each way) to check a bag. I have learned to stuff more junk in a carry on than a person should have a right to!

I know mine flys across the room from time to time. HEHE Contact the airline, if they know what a rottery cutter is they may be able to give you an answer. I is just to bad that the bad people in the world make it so hard for the good guys.

Mine did too. I was trying to imagine what direction it would fly out? guess it's getting too late, even for a Friday night. lol

Every time I see this in the thread titles, I think of Dumbo and elephants flying...I visualize rotary cutters with wings...

I put the rotary cutter in a zip loc bag, no blade, put separately in the tub. When all items were put in the tub for X ray, the cutter was fine. I put extra blades in my checked luggage. The security guy had no idea what it was but it didn't flag as suspicious. I don't know why I went to that much hassle. I could have easily bought another one after I got to my destination and just left it or give it away when I flew back.
