Our broker/financial professionals taught us the "rules" of RAK years ago, and I have found the hardest to do is pay for someone else's lunch, gasoline, etc. as it is to be done without their knowledge as to has paid. It is fun, to work this out. Also, when you give somehting to a child, tell them to do "something nice" for someone else--of course, not revealing anything. Don and Ryan have the server, or other intermediator, leave his printed card stating the "reason" and the recipient is to use that same card in his/her next action.

I learned RAK from my dad over half a century ago. Since he was a farmer and here a lot, it wasn't unusual for someone needing help specially with cars on our then muddy roads. He'd pull someone out with the tractor, they'd offer to pay him and he's simply tell them to pass on the favor by doing something nice for the next guy.

Of course, the folks in our area lived that way. Go help Joe today, help Gus on Tuesday, everyone here to help us on Saturday!

that sounds great i love doing it but never thought of here. i always pick up little things i see when shopping thinking it would be nice for so and so. but really are people here just going to give you there address without asking why. i think its great and certainly love to be on the receiving end as i am going to be going through a really rough surgery in oct. and it would be great to know that there is people out there thinking of how im doing. so how can we as a group set up a system to put our address together so we can do something like this. even a note to say hi to someone i think would make them feel special. any ideas.

RAK and PIF are two of my most favorite things in the world.....simple things like taking my elderly neighbors a homecooked meal, or taking in my neighbors trash cans when they aren't home....or when I'm in the market and can see someone needs help to find something or reach something, or a simple "please go ahead of me....as I see you are in a hurry and I am not"..... a simple smile, a hello, praise a parent for how they are treating their child or how the child is behaving.....small things mean a lot and some how some people have forgotten.......

What a marvelous outlook and your solution is right on. To do something for another often helps raise the spirits of the giver as well as being a happy moment for the receiver. Keep up the good work! and the Quilting naturally.
