While cleaning my sewing room I found some spools of Sulky Lightweight Polyester bobbin thread. I have no idea why I bought it.
It's white. My question is "is it just for the bobbin" and why/why not?? I tried to find out online but didn't really get the details. Thanks for any help :D |
According to what I found when I googled it, it is a 60wt thread. This would make it similar to Superior Thread's "Bottom Line" which I just happen to be using on my bobbin with a cotton variegated top Sulky 30wt and it is working very nicely on my first QFK. I believe that embroidery thread for my machine is 60wt. So I suppose you could use it to sew with, but you would probably have to adjust the upper tension. I did have to adjust mine to accommodate the heavier upper thread with my current combo I mentioned above. Am probably doing it all wrong in my rather intermediate newbie fog, but heh, it's working... ;-)

Some of the bobbin thread is thinner, used for piecing, and I think many like it because a bobbin lasts a lot longer. :D:D:D I think some even use it for quilting.

I think embroidery thread is 40wt, atleast mine is, but you could use this as bobbin thread for that too, I know that cutebuns does :D:D:D

I just looked at it again and it doesn't have a weight on the label. It says Premium and it's 1500 yds.
So should I just use it in the bobbin?? Geezzzzzzzz I don't even want to tell you how long I've been sewing and quilting with all my dumb questions!! :D:D:D |
Thanks a lot- I've always wished bobbins lasted longer and maybe it will now :)

It's bobbin thread that's used primarily for embroidery.

I use it for the bobbin when I embroidery.
I generally wouldn't use it to piece or quilt with because I use cotton and cotton thread.. wouldn't want to have poly on the bottom and cotton on the top.. I think it would be stronger than the cotton and may give you tension problems.. or not.. (Don't yell at me.. I know people mix them all the time) |
HAHAHA- no yelling- had my quota for today :D I don't embroider so I will probably use it for the bobbin and see what happens.
