I like the second pic. I think the problem was that the dr. Suess fabric needs to be treated as a focus fabric, not as a background/neutral.

I really like the white sashing/borders and would not bother with corner stones, but would use a bright red or blue to bind it.

I like the white sashing but I miss those big plain Dr. Seuss blocks. I wonder what would happen if you used the white sashing, but did a border in the Dr. suess fabric

Love the second one with the white sashing and the idea of red corner stones. to pull it together. Maybe you could sew up the large blocks you didn't use for the back. Babies love busy.
