Wow - you have quite a wonderful collection. How long have you been collecting? I love the little owl and the teapot amazes me. Gotta try that one! My SIL collects them too. She is a retired Home Economics teacher and she also bakes fancy cakes, so for her BD I made her a little cake on a pedestal pincushion that she loves. My DH and i found the glass pedestal at an antique barn. I sewed a cylinder in white satin, filled it with saw dust, and embellished it with ribbonwork, then attached it to the pedestal. A fun project!

I have 2 regular size pincushions, which I was forever losing. So, I decided to make one that would be impossible to lose. I found a print in my stash of spools of thread and threaded needles, cut it into six 7" squares, and made a big block-shaped pincushion that is impossible to lose sight of! I put a small bag of gravel in the bottom to give it stability, and filled it with polyester. I love it. It holds lots and lots of pins, and I never misplace it!
I need one like this - even though I don't see any legs on the ones I have, they seem to wander off! |
super cute collection, but if I start another collection where would I keep them? oh what to do, what to do...

these are so cute. Pincushions are one of the one things, I've never thought about making.
