Recently, two of the guilds I attend had pincushion exchanges. I think everyone should have a basketful of pincushions in their sewing room. Man, there are some adorable pincushions out there! And now my personal stash of pincushions has grown since I took the photo...they keep multiplying...

Show me your pincushions! What's your favorite?

Love the little Owl I made yesterday from a pattern HERE: http://moonstitches.typepad.com/phot...ial/index.html

jeaninmaine 07-19-2011 01:11 PM

Lucky you, I just love pincushions.

Thanks you so much for the link to the owl tutorial, it's precious.

alikat110 07-19-2011 01:12 PM

Nice collection

np3 07-19-2011 01:17 PM

I have too many to keep out anymore. I think I'll find a basket to keep them all in!

jljack 07-19-2011 01:20 PM

DH and I both sew, and we are always "..where's the pincushion?" I guess we need to make some more!!

ghostrider 07-19-2011 01:21 PM

One is too many for me I'm afraid. :( My cats think pincushions are cat toys and that makes them just too dangerous for me to risk using. I have a couple, but can't keep pins in them at all.

sewmary 07-19-2011 01:40 PM

I have no pincushions - I use a magentic thingy which lets me pick up pins fast from table or floor.

Plus, I agree - it would just become a cat toy.

Although hmm those sure are cute.

myreda 07-19-2011 02:07 PM

I'm with you. I don't think you can have too many pincushions. What a great collection you have. :)

( Although I have to admit to keeping them away from the dog. He would love to get his choppers on one of the felted wool kind.)

QuiltnNan 07-19-2011 02:10 PM

Those pincushions are delightful. thanks so much for posting those pics. your owl is my fav.

susie-susie-susie 07-19-2011 02:11 PM

Your collection is wonderful. I really like the little owl. I do not have a pin cushion to my name. Poor me. I'm afraid the cat would think it's a toy.

I made this from the cap of a 2-liter bottle. If I use elastic it can be worn as a ring. This one has string and is tied to the handle of a small basket I carry with me.

TonnieLoree 07-19-2011 03:56 PM

I love that owl. Thanks for the link. Since many have said that their cat would think it was a toy, I am going to make one and stuff it with catnip for her. I use the magnetic cup myself.

jeaninmaine 07-19-2011 04:09 PM

Is that an elephant in the first picture, did you make it. Do you remember where you found the directions? My hubby loves elephants.

tammy cosper 07-19-2011 04:11 PM

Love your collection of pincushions. I have another site for you for a Hexi- caddy pincushion. http://pennyshands.blogspot.com/2010...-tutorial.html

CAJAMK 07-20-2011 04:05 AM

Your collection is stunning!! Thanks for the link to the owl cushion. My BFF birthday is coming up and I think this will make a great little "giftie" (we always call it that)

Blinky 07-20-2011 04:08 AM

Love all your pin cushions and thanks so much for the link!!

hopetoquilt 07-20-2011 04:27 AM

Made me think.... I don't own a pincushion. Maybe I need one. I just piece and don't use pins but my goal for the summer is to become proficient in needle turn applique and I want to get pins for applique. I like the piece of cake ones. they are really cute.

Psychomomquilter 07-20-2011 04:27 AM

be great for gifts if you have a mind to that is.

Dotsie 07-20-2011 04:31 AM

v.ery cute.... love the tea pot and owl.

damaquilts 07-20-2011 04:38 AM

I collect china pincushions and have stayed away from most of the cloth ones except the satin with the little people around them. I always thought they were cute but didn't have any place to put them. When you said a 'basketful of pincushions" I thought what a great idea.:-)

gmaybee 07-20-2011 04:57 AM

I love pincushions, but don't have a nice collection like you do.

Val in IN 07-20-2011 05:10 AM

Too many pincushions??? Is that even possible???

ccthomas 07-20-2011 05:11 AM

I am getting hooked on pin cushions also. I don't think so. :-)

donnacollierbess 07-20-2011 05:11 AM

I use the magnetic one as well and I love it. I have a few other pincushions but use the magnetic one 99% of the time.

Wow - you have quite a wonderful collection. How long have you been collecting? I love the little owl and the teapot amazes me. Gotta try that one! My SIL collects them too. She is a retired Home Economics teacher and she also bakes fancy cakes, so for her BD I made her a little cake on a pedestal pincushion that she loves. My DH and i found the glass pedestal at an antique barn. I sewed a cylinder in white satin, filled it with saw dust, and embellished it with ribbonwork, then attached it to the pedestal. A fun project!
