Recently, two of the guilds I attend had pincushion exchanges. I think everyone should have a basketful of pincushions in their sewing room. Man, there are some adorable pincushions out there! And now my personal stash of pincushions has grown since I took the photo...they keep multiplying...
Show me your pincushions! What's your favorite? Love the little Owl I made yesterday from a pattern HERE: http://moonstitches.typepad.com/phot...ial/index.html SLC Modern Quilt Guild exchange Heber Valley Quilters exchange My Pincushion Collection. cute pincushions, I love pincushions!
Lucky you, I just love pincushions.
Thanks you so much for the link to the owl tutorial, it's precious. |
Nice collection
I have too many to keep out anymore. I think I'll find a basket to keep them all in!
DH and I both sew, and we are always "..where's the pincushion?" I guess we need to make some more!!
One is too many for me I'm afraid. :( My cats think pincushions are cat toys and that makes them just too dangerous for me to risk using. I have a couple, but can't keep pins in them at all.
I have no pincushions - I use a magentic thingy which lets me pick up pins fast from table or floor.
Plus, I agree - it would just become a cat toy. Although hmm those sure are cute. |
I'm with you. I don't think you can have too many pincushions. What a great collection you have. :)
( Although I have to admit to keeping them away from the dog. He would love to get his choppers on one of the felted wool kind.) |
Those pincushions are delightful. thanks so much for posting those pics. your owl is my fav.
Your collection is wonderful. I really like the little owl. I do not have a pin cushion to my name. Poor me. I'm afraid the cat would think it's a toy.

I made this from the cap of a 2-liter bottle. If I use elastic it can be worn as a ring. This one has string and is tied to the handle of a small basket I carry with me.
I love that owl. Thanks for the link. Since many have said that their cat would think it was a toy, I am going to make one and stuff it with catnip for her. I use the magnetic cup myself.
Is that an elephant in the first picture, did you make it. Do you remember where you found the directions? My hubby loves elephants.
I love pincushions to, and don't feel that I can ever have to many.
Oh my, what a wonderful collection!

Your collection is stunning!! Thanks for the link to the owl cushion. My BFF birthday is coming up and I think this will make a great little "giftie" (we always call it that)
Love all your pin cushions and thanks so much for the link!!
Made me think.... I don't own a pincushion. Maybe I need one. I just piece and don't use pins but my goal for the summer is to become proficient in needle turn applique and I want to get pins for applique. I like the piece of cake ones. they are really cute.
be great for gifts if you have a mind to that is.
v.ery cute.... love the tea pot and owl.
I collect china pincushions and have stayed away from most of the cloth ones except the satin with the little people around them. I always thought they were cute but didn't have any place to put them. When you said a 'basketful of pincushions" I thought what a great idea.:-)
I love pincushions, but don't have a nice collection like you do.
Too many pincushions??? Is that even possible???
I am getting hooked on pin cushions also. I don't think so. :-)
I use the magnetic one as well and I love it. I have a few other pincushions but use the magnetic one 99% of the time.

Wow - you have quite a wonderful collection. How long have you been collecting? I love the little owl and the teapot amazes me. Gotta try that one! My SIL collects them too. She is a retired Home Economics teacher and she also bakes fancy cakes, so for her BD I made her a little cake on a pedestal pincushion that she loves. My DH and i found the glass pedestal at an antique barn. I sewed a cylinder in white satin, filled it with saw dust, and embellished it with ribbonwork, then attached it to the pedestal. A fun project!
