So many people here are fabric collectors. I love quilt books and I think I am more of a quilt book "hoarder." I saw a beautiful sampler quilt. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a great book to make a sampler quilt. When I buy books, I like ones with beautiful COLOR photos and good/clear directions.

Can anyone recommend a good quilting book with tons of different pattern blocks that all come out the same size. It has to have directions on how to do each block. I know there are websites but I much prefer a book. Thanks

I just purchased The Essential Sampler Quilt Book by Lynne Edwards, has 40 blocks of different techniques from applique to bargello, to traditional, shows many different quilts made with different color schemes and different blocks. I love it . Plan to make one next year

Judy Hopkins has an "Around the Block" series of 3 books you might try to find one at your library. All the blocks come with instructions for several different sizes and could work well for want you want.

I too love quilt books. I think a good one is Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!! by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. It has instructions for tons of different quilts and in the back there is a self paced course for making a sampler and templates if you prefer that method of cutting and cutting directions for rotary cutting too. All quilts give fabric requirements, templates and rotary directions from crib to king. Some of the blocks in the book have instructions for different sizes and all the quilts pictured give you dimensions of the block so you can pick and choose the ones you want by size. I have made several quilts with this book and there are big beautiful color pictures of every quilt in the book. Some of the instructions aren't step by step because I think they are assuming you know but there are lots of tips and tricks in it.

Another one I like a lot is 101 fabulous rotary cut quilts by Judy Hopkins and Nancy Martin. Yes there are 101 quilts in this book and each one has a full page color picture. This book has diagrams for block assembly which I like because I often construct the block differently then they recommend. Again, block sizes are given for each quilt pictured so you can pick and choose to make your sampler. I have also made a quilt out of this book that I pictured below.

I look through these books quite often.

Thanks for the suggestions. I searched the library catalog and none of the books are available through my local library. I went to amazon and found the around the block book reasonably priced used and will order that book when I get my next paycheck. I was actually able to preview some of the contents of that book and it was exactly what I was looking for. BTW, feline fanatic, the border on the pictured quilt is incredible. I love it!!

I you like paper piecing, Carol Doak has several books. The 2 that come to mind for the most patterns are, 300 Paper Pieced Quilt Blocks and Simply Sensational 9 Patch blocks. The 9 Patch book has 40 small blocks that you combine to make different designs. Another one is 101 Log Cabin Quilt Blocks. I think it is by Linda Causee.
