I intend to on my current project. I'm tying the center, quilting the borders.

That's exactly what I'm doing with my wall hanging made out of Slipknot t-shirts! I'm tying the shirt parts, but am quilting the borders and sashing.

I've done it lots of times and it is no problem. I've also mixed hand and machine quilting to get the effect that I wanted. You are the designer and you get to choose what method you use! Tie and machine quilt away and get the wonderful gift done.

Thanks everyone! I had never heard of doing it before, but I didn't see why it wouldn't work! I am glad to hear others have done it also!

I believe it was on this board that I read that someone in past years tied their quilt, then quilted them when they had time. I don't see a problem using quilting and tying together.
