Congratulations! Good buy.

I love my Pfaff 7550 but have worked it so much that it needs serviced and can't find a factory authorized service man any where near Columbus, GA.

Happy dance! Doesn't it feel great to luck out like that?! Many happy hours with the new baby.

jmanghamom 04-12-2011 10:37 AM

I bought both of my machines on ebay. The Viking only had 39 hours on it. It had been used to demonstrate a program by some fellow, and the company gave him the machine. He then gave it to his sister, who did not sew. I got it for $900. It has been a dream. My brother innovis I also bought on ebay. It is self threading and came with all sorts of extras. That one I paid $2000. for but then it is a more expensive machine than I could ever afford.

Oh, happy day!!! Enjoy

gramquilter2 04-12-2011 11:39 AM

Happy sewing

Wow!!! You are going to love it. I bought a Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.0 on sale for a great price, but you REALLY got a bargain!!!

mucky 04-12-2011 01:23 PM

I have the Expression 4.0 and I have an old Pfaff 7550. Loved that machine. My new one was at the factory the first year more than it was in my house. I don't know if it was a lemon or not, but I have learned that you just can't sew fast on it. The needle threader is very easy to break and when taking the bobbin area apart for cleaning be careful or the thread cutter part underneath will fall in a bottomless pit under the machine and can't be retrieved at home. After a new bobbin holder and numerous needle threader replacements I have finally learned to sew on it. But they just don't make the new ones like the old ones.

It's a real workhorse, but I'm going into business next year and will need the ability to machine quilt and machine applique. I'm beyond excited and can't wait for my new baby to arrive! :-D :-D

Well, I am jealous as all get out. I bought my Expressions 4 for a lot more money than that. I love it tho. I don't use the decorative stitches yet. Too busy piecing grandson's quilts. Jan

Amen, I also have the 7550 at our mountain retreat and I lov ethat machine. On the new one I keep bending or breaking the automatic threader. Never had this problem with the 7550. Grrr. I will just thread it like you all do, till my eyesight won't let me and then I will take it in to get fixed. Jan

Congratulations! I've gotten some great items on Ebay. The bidding part still scares me sometimes. Enjoy your new machine.

butterflies5518 04-12-2011 03:42 PM

congratulations - ebay is addictive tho!

tjradj 04-12-2011 03:54 PM

Congrats on your win!
I hate to be a killjoy, but make sure the seller packs it well so it doesn't get damaged in transit.
If it is in it's original box AND packing material, great, just have them double box it and stuff styrofoam sheets (not pellets) between the boxes.
If it's not in the original packing, make sure that it is packed securely. Bubble wrap wrapped around the arm to the point that it is stuffed into the box. Every open area of the box has to be filled with either bubble wrap STUFFED into the crevices, and/or folded cardboard so that it absolutely cannot budge inside the box. Then double box it with the styrofoam layer as stated before.
Unfortunately the delivery system tends to toss packages around like they're bean bags, so pack it like you expect it to drop off a 10 foot conveyor belt. Then, it should arrive intact.
Have them pack accessories in another box that can be put in between the double box.
Shipping a machine just in it's case, then in a box is not sufficient.
Check out the Vintage Sewing machine shop if you need photos and horror stories of machines shipped from eBay sellers.
Dictate exactly how you want it packed. DOn't assume the seller "knows how."
IMHO

Yea! Good for you.

Congrats on your Pfaff 3.0. You got a good price. And yes, the 2.0 and 3.0 are being discontinued. The new versions have a smaller opening??? Not too sure what Pfaff is thinking making the opening smaller ??????????? You will love your new machine !!!!! I'm in the process of picking a new machine. I can't decide on the Pfaff 4.0 or the Janome top of the line. The Pfaff 4.0 definately has some beautiful quilting features. But I don't just quilt, I do fashion and also do some sewing of upholstery fabrics. I'm in such a quandry???? Actually as far as being heavy duty goes, they are both the same, it's just that the Janome looks like it would handle the heavier fabrics. Good luck with your new Pfaff 3.0 I know you will love it!!!!! From Auntie B, in, thank goodness it is finally spring, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Jen I'm so glad that you found a machine! It will be fun to hear about it at our beach retreat! Bring pictures!
