Can't decide on border

4 Attachment(s)
My latest quilt waiting for another border, maybe? Which do you all prefer? with or without the pink paisley? I like it both ways so the QB will be the decision maker on this one. The dark 'ric-rac is the binding Thanks for helping.

My vote is with the pink, beautiful quilt either way.

irishrose 06-16-2012 03:22 PM

I can see why you can't decide. In the end, I chose without the paisley. I love that fabric - I used it in a prayer quilt - but I like the butterfly border and the 'rick-rack' border together, so they win.

Arleners 06-16-2012 03:25 PM

You are correct that either is nice, but I like it best without the pink.

QuiltnNan 06-16-2012 03:29 PM

i vote for the added pink border. i think it ties the center to the borders better

Fraew 06-16-2012 03:30 PM

I like both but really like with the pink.

mighty 06-16-2012 03:53 PM

Beautiful both ways, I prefer without the pink.

spokanequilter 06-16-2012 03:56 PM

I think I would have to go without the pink. It looks richer that way......

dunster 06-16-2012 04:00 PM

I would decide based entirely on how big you want the quilt to be. It is GORGEOUS either way.

quiltingb1 06-16-2012 04:01 PM

Love it both ways but if it were mine I would not add the pink. Think looks richer without it.

ontheriver 06-16-2012 04:15 PM

I like it without the pink. Love the butterfly fabric.

TanyaL 06-16-2012 04:19 PM

Definitely without the pink.

Ellietow 06-16-2012 04:23 PM

I like it without the pink

decky 06-16-2012 04:27 PM

My vote is no pink.

My choice would be with out thepink.

Your border print seems to have all (or at least most) of the colours from the Trip bloocks in the centre. The darkness with the print helps to frame it all up and show it off nicely.

If you haven't cut your border print yet, I'd suggest that you mitre the corners for an even nicer touch!

Great idea but to late! I haven't done very many mitered borders and I didn't even think of doing that. It woud have worked beautifully had I just thought about it longer. Thanks for the idea. I will keep a large note for the next project pinned to my wall!

I thought maybe you were beyond the point of no return, though was hoping you weren't! Sometimes we get ideas after the fact ... and just have to wait til another quilt!! :) (ask me how I know?:))

delma_paulk 06-16-2012 05:09 PM

I like them both??? Perhaps 2 borders??

EvelynJ 06-16-2012 05:14 PM

I'm on the side that says leave out the pink paisley. I would just leave the gorgeous purple only.

barny 06-16-2012 05:17 PM

I vote without the pink even tho it is very pretty fabric. The dark already has it framed. To me the pink opens it back up. But either way it is your quilt and it is beautiful.

maryb119 06-16-2012 05:20 PM

I like them both but I would not add the pink unless you want the quilt a little larger.

TrenbeathRanch 06-16-2012 05:31 PM

I like the pink, but I would separate the two prints with a narrow blender fabric...mho

suebee 06-16-2012 05:38 PM

I like the last photo the best :) beautiful!!

Dolphyngyrl 06-16-2012 05:40 PM

1 more vote for without

Phannie1 06-16-2012 05:54 PM

I like the re-peat of the paisley print from the square to the border. If it was a different pink, I would leave it out but I like it. It is a beautiful quilt.

Marilynsue 06-16-2012 07:03 PM

Vote #1 goes to the pink paisley, vote #2 goes to either. Both are beautiful!!

Greenheron 06-16-2012 08:25 PM

Without the pink--IMHO it draws the eye away from the pieced center. But neither way would be wrong as both are attractive.

barbgooch 06-16-2012 08:38 PM

Without the pink. Also, I think it would have been nice to miter the black border. Just my opinion

sak658 06-16-2012 08:40 PM

Sew Pretty but without the pink is my vote...

Jim's Gem 06-16-2012 08:57 PM

Both are beautiful, though unless you need it bigger, I vote no pink!

cathylynn 06-16-2012 09:41 PM

without the paisley.

I think that's my vote, too, but honestly... it's beautiful either way. It really is a great quilt!

117becca 06-17-2012 02:24 AM

I would not use the pink. The first border is dark and "heavy" - it needs to be on the outside. I guess this is another No on the pink...

sandyl 06-17-2012 02:30 AM

My vote is no on the pink. It's a gorgeous quilt btw.

nycquilter 06-17-2012 02:57 AM

I like the pink. It makes the rest stand out more IMHO

KR 06-17-2012 03:57 AM

Unless you have to make it bigger I would vote to not add the pink. IMHO the overall design works better just the way it is. Beautiful colors....nice job!

ArtsyOne 06-17-2012 04:23 AM

I like it without the pink - the dark fabric frames the center and gives the eye a place to stop.

Cheshirecatquilter 06-17-2012 04:25 AM

My vote is to end with the black.

QuiltE 06-17-2012 07:04 AM

For those interested, and being that the OP has not come back here .... she's started a new thread today where she's pulled off the dark border ...... and is now asking for your opinions

ube quilting 06-17-2012 07:27 AM

Thanks to everyone who helped me make a decision on this quilt. The results will be posted in the near future.:D
