I think a fabric with small bones or dog related items (something like these - http://www.ccq-pa.com/servlet/Detail?no=1333 ) would look really cute in with what you've collected already.

Can't wait to see the pictures of the completed project! :)

My suggestion (sorry if it's useless!) would be to keep looking until you see exactly the pattern you want ... within the bit of time frame that you have left before you need to cut & sew. The fabric is much too cute to use until you're absolutely sure you've found the perfect pattern. I do know there are oodles & oodles of baby quilt patterns available ... for free & for sale.

I love the fabric! Bright & cheery for the new baby

I'm thinking you feel pressured. Hang back a bit and wait. No one will think any less of you. It will happen when you are ready.

I was thinking a larger D9P with the doggie fabrics in the main corner squares and using one of the other two fabrics in the squares that will be cut in half, the other for the center and as sashing between the blocks. Would make a very interesting quilt.

I'm thinking you are right about feeling pressured...I am making a small quilt already for him (bassiet size) so this one may be a Christmas present, gives me a couple more months anyway. Thanks for all the support everyone...will definately post a picture when I'm done

Ha! That's exactly what I thought the second I saw those fabrics. That would be a perfect pattern for those prints.

Your fabric says (to me) simple and not fancy. So why not start with a square of your focus fabric large enough to see the motifs. Surround this with the fabric on the left cut so the writting can be read then alternate blocks with another row around them of one of the fabrics on the left and another on the far left. I don't know the sale of the focus fabric but my gut tells me an 8" square will show it off well. The fabric on the right will unify each of the blocks and then the red and blue will alternate the color.

Love the fabrics. No ideas.

"Just Can't Cut It" might be a good pattern to use--big squares from the dog print, and smaller pieces from the coordinating ones. It's an easy pattern that looks good finished.
Enjoy!
