Mine must have a different bulb in it as I've not had a problem with it getting extremely hot. Warm, yes, but not like you encountered. Glad you decided to wait and get a different one.

We had 3 we used in 4-H and always were warning the girls about the light.

I think now is a good time to buy a FW off Ebay. People aren't buying, I've seen several go for under $200. Good luck.
