Sounds like the hand-sewing might be a good thing to "hire out."

I HATE HATE maching so am very happy and relaxed to hand quilt but sadly have to use machine to attach binding on front of quilt as I feel it is more stable than hand stitched, when the machining is done it is wonderful can put the thing away until the next binding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You all can send your quilts to me for binding. I love it...it's my favorite part!

you get farther than I do! I have a few waiting to be sandwiched together with the batting/back and then quilted. That is the part I procrastinate about. Once I start doing that, I don't mind the binding because I do it by machine. I have done a few by hand but the arthritis in my shoulder makes it too painful anymore.
Looking forward to seeing photos of your finished projects.

I guess if I can't find a job or go to school, I can travel the US attaching your bindings; as long as you offer a sofa to crash.

I try not to let binding intimidate me. I live by the creed that if it can't be done by machine, I don't do it, so that applies to my binding as well.
I sew it on the back and turn it to the front.
Use the Elmer's School Glue to baste it in place.
Then topstitch the binding in place. I move the needle over as needed so the binding feeds under the foot easily and the stitching is where I want it.
The last quilt I made, I used one of my "fancy" stitches to topstitch the binding. I kind of like it and may use it again.

Ooh! I love that! Any idea what that stitch is called? I want to look for it on my machine
