I'm in that dilemma right now - with company coming and I have to give up my sewing/computer room - so I dug out 3 projects I can work on by hand, while my room is occupied as a bedroom once again... and I hope it works; but then, who says I'll have time to work on anything while they are here; but, I'm prepared! One is an applique project, one is making hexagons, and the other is an embroidery project; so lots to do - but with these all being men/boys - they'll be out and about occasionally leaving me to gain my sanity for a while so plan to relax with a project.

I am working on needlepoint Christmas stockings for my daughters and their husbands. I have no deadline, so whenever we go anywhere that I will be riding or sitting around, I just pick up the tote and all I need is inside. It is very relaxing and I'm sure some day they will get finished.

I love your hexi quilt and it's what I was thinking about taking camping next week. I can't just sit there and do nothing. I need to be doing something. This would be perfect.

I also work on Hexie, especially for travel, by any mode. they travel well.

I have them in three different sizes.

It is summer; I need to sit by the pool with my 4 yr. I am putting hexies together for a table runner.

Another thing I go is hand embroider.

I always keep one or two projects that require small squares, I work on them when traveling, had one of them for years still unfinished, I guess I don't travel that much anymore!

I love to make yo yos. What do you all use them for?

I have just started making yo-yo's now that they have the yo-yo makers to hold the fabric. Since I had a thumb fused and a bone removed from my dominant hand, these templates have been wonderful.

I'm making them out of taffeta and chiffon and all sorts of fabrics. The taffeta ones are turning out beautifully!" I'm stacking two size together with a really dressy button in the middle and they will become either brooches, pins or decorations for purses. I'm loving it! The oval ones are really cool too! I made an oval one out of cotton and used it to decorate a basket block and used a dragonfly button in the center of it. Too cute!

You can use smaller ones to decorate headbands or hair clips.

I hand applique, make sew cathedral windows or hand-quilt small projects. Takes my mind off my surroundings and keeps my hands too busy to stress-snack.

Tops-Turvy is generally the name of the game around here, and I usually grab something to applique on. Keeps the hands and mind busy. I wish you a smooth move, as we all know that can be a really stressful thing.
