Brought this from a co-worker that found it in the attic of an old house he purchased. He says it works beautifully!! Now if I can just find a table!!
I am far from an expert, but that looks to me like the renowned featherweight! What a glorious find! I believe the featherweight was the original portable machine, not supposed to have a table, because it was light weight enough to carry to wherever one wanted to use it.
Lucky you! |

Score!!! And I echo Painiacs message---a lot of lucky people here lately. Look at that beautiful scroll plate. Have you checked the serial number yet?
Yep!!! Lucky you....that IS a Featherweight!
You can check out the year of manufacture using this site: http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html You can also check out Dave McCullam's site Featherweight Rx: http://www.featherweight221.com/fwrx/index.html His book is priceless to have if you own a FW. It's written so that the average Joe can maintain their FW and save themselves some money at the repair shop: |

Oh wow!!!!!!!!!!! You scored a Featherweight!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!! :D:D:D:D:D |
There was a table made specifically for FWs, they are few and far between. If you check ebay, once in while one will show up. I'll go see if I can find a pic.

Lucky, lucky YOU :D:D:D
Congrats on scoring a feather weight.
If you look on the bottom you will find a metal plaque with it's number. Look that number up at the Singer archives and you will find out all about it. What a wonderful find.

what a beautiful find. you should take this man out to dinner
Very good find.
My 301, the FW's big sister is hanging out in the serger table. With 2 books under the lift up section, it is a good work surface. The legs from the table were too long, so they're in storage.
You're a very lucky quilter. |
Wow!! Lucky you!!
LUCKY YOU :-) :-) :-)
This is a Singer Featherweight, their is a serial number on the bottom that you can go to singer.com and find out the year she was born, I have several of these little beauties and just love them, and by the way, they do have a table that was manufactured for this machine, you can look on e-bay and should be able to find the table, Congrats, this looks great
WOW, what a find! Wish I had one!
My mom used to call her FW (now one of 3 in my craft room) an 'Eleven Pound Portable'......anyone know it by this name?
Yours is the second Featherweight that has shown up in the last few days that even has the beautiful scroll plate. Mine is the plain-Jane plate.
It is a featherweight. There should be a number on the bottom so that you can look up the year for it.
Also, I have a featherweight which was purchased by my MIL in 1945. She got a table with it. Basically it is like a card table with folding legs and has a cut out area to set the machine in. I saw one other like it on EBay. You might check there to see if they have another. |
There is a folding table (wooden) that you might find on e-bay they seem to have them once in a while but quite pricey!! Are the numbers on it 221 or 221K? If so it is a featherweight. They are very portable and sew like a dream. Have fun and enjoy her. My featherweights name is "Licorice".
