I came up with a couple new gifts for xmas this year. Man gifts are hard to find. My sweetheart has a man cave dedicated to his music and he is always cold so the gifts were insulated drapes, for darkness and sound and a quilted cornice covered to look like a keyboard. To finish off the gift was a quilted flannel bathrobe, using up flannel I bought for a quilt I never made. I'm posting this now because the flannels are really great sale prices now. Hard to get him out of it LOL

I can see why he does not want to get out of that robe. It is awesome! And I'll bet it is the most comfortable robe ever.

Very creative on your quilted cornice. Adds that special touch to his "man cave".
Those are just wonderful!!!!!!
Very creative gifts!
Wow I am amazed at how creative that valance is. I can do great with patterns but dont ask me to create something out of thin air. You did a fantastic job!
Wonderful ideas, great job!!
Thanks for the ideas I now know what to make my grandson for christmas he doesn;t need a quilt but The valance is sure to bring a smile to his face Mind if I borrow that idea

That valance is adorable. I like the curtains and the robe but that valance is the topper.

I love your curtains. What an idea! Now your sweetie will be warm.
WOW the valance/cornice is awesome, robe looks pretty comfy I wouldnt want to take it off either !

Feel free to use my idea. The general measurement whatever you want. The pictured one is white strips for the top half cut 1 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" wide. the black keys are all 1 1/2" wide. All are 8" long. assemble referring to the picture. Use 1/4" seams. After you piece the top part of the keyboard. Sew a strip 8" wide by width of your key board for the lower part. if you stayed straight on your seams you can sew 1" apart starting at the bottom of the white keys as with a normal keyboard you will come out off center at the bottom of the black keys, but should come out even between the black keys on the 2 1/2" white strips. I used a poly batting and just muslin for the backing. Quilted it on my longarm, but use a walking foot if you do it on your home machine and allow several inches extra for the take up if trying to make it fit a cornice or keyboard. Feel free to ask any questions, I'll help if I can.

What a great valance and he really does seem to like his bathrobe.
Your valance is great! It is hard to find quilty gifts for the men in our lives. Great idea with a flannel quilted robe.
Thanks for sharing how you made it.
Your window treatment is amazing! I've been putting off making curtains for months. I LOVE that robe! I want to try making one for myself. I just finished a flannel quilt and it is so cozy. Thanks for the inspiration! :)

Lovely cornice. creating is so much fun. Your work is fantastice!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, what great gifts. It's one thing to be creative and come up with great ideas, but to be able to actually create them, now that's awesome. You did good.
This is neat. As a working musician (when I am not sewing), I like the quilted cornice very much. Is it an original pattern? Regardless, you did good.
Love the valance and yes love the robe...!! Why do men love their robes? I made mine his and he will not trade it for nothing.. have to make him a new one ..the old one is starting to look its age..
You did great... Happy Quilting! Quiltinmama |
I love your creative cornice. It gives us ideas on how to co-ordinate other interests into home decor. The robe sure looks comfy!!
Great job. I see he is proud of his robe. Truly love the keyboard.
I love the idea of the keyboard. I am not a great musician but I do play the piano(not great) I think I will use this in my woman cave where I have my computer, piano and all my tapes.
Good job. Getting ahead of the rest of us.
Oh my gosh, these are both so adorable. Just love the valance though. Thanks for sharing.

How wonderful that window covering looks! Love the valance and the way you finished it. Robe looks like it is really cherished.
