Christmas Gifts?

I'd love to see what all you guys are gifting this year to your family and friends in the way of quilts, table runners, mug rugs....etc! Post your pictures here!

I made these bags for 3 tween girls this year. I think they turned out cute. I didn't take the flamingo directional fabric into consideration when I bought it so didn't have enough to make all the flamingos going in the same direction....lessons learned every time I make something. :) I made dryer balls that were a bit different. I also made some microwave pot holders but did not take a picture of those. How about you, #1piecemaker...where are your pictures of what you are making?

osome, did you have a pattern for those bags? They are lovely. I like the pockets. That's mesh isn't it?

I also love your yarn balls. Too cute!!!

tessagin 12-19-2015 09:35 AM

None of mine is finished if I finish at all. Love all the gifts posted. You ladies are so creative!!

Tartan 12-19-2015 09:45 AM

You all have been busy! I am using my panty purses with a gift card for my nieces, and a quilt for my grandniece but they are wrapped and you have seen them before. My husband and I have gifted each other with a new furnace this year.

I've made 30 place mats using pre-quilted fabric and just binding them for my daughters and daughters-in-law. Some are getting 6 and some 4 depending on their table size.

osewme 12-19-2015 02:16 PM

I'm liking everything I see here. Lucky recipients!

The pattern I used for the totes was a downloadable one from QuiltWoman.com & it costs $10.00

A Gift for My Son's Mother-in-Law

I bought this pattern - Christmas Cactus - as a kit - all the fabric pre-cut. I pieced it and quilted it myself on my Bernina 820. We will be spending Christmas with our son and his family, including his mother-in-law. Hope she's a quilt person!

My brother passed away in March. I was given his neckties so I made this quilt for his only child, a daughter for Christmas. she received it this week and loves it. It turned out rather well, if I do say so myself.

lynnie 12-19-2015 07:42 PM

such wonderful gift idea. great work everyone. I'm done for this year, already gifted. i'm working on next year. almost done. I'm doing gingerbread table runners, (fatctpatterns.com) to go with the table runners a 3d gingerbread house ornament 4 sides and a roof from Urban Threads. Also a gingerbread house standing (Simplicity) with a lace roof. the runners are done, working on the lace sections little by little and will do the big houses over the summer. It's all for next year. as I get it all done, I'll show photos them.

Just started making mug rugs and pot holders to keep busy when recovering from surgery. Most went to DD for her and some of her friends and employees. Maybe next time. Can't get pics.

sewbeadit 12-20-2015 12:25 AM

Love the bags too, I also have wanted to make the dryer balls but haven't yet, they look so pretty in that basket!

Great gifts everyone, all are so pretty!

jmoore 12-20-2015 03:31 AM

JeanneS, I certainly love your B&W with yellow sashing... great color combination.

Neanie... your Christmas quilt is beautiful.

so many great gifts. I have already wrapped most of mine before I saw this post. I am finishing up binding on two table runners and Mystery #8. I'll try to post a picture but I always have trouble getting them the right size to download on this board. :(

DebbieJJ 12-20-2015 04:08 AM

I wrapped my little homemade pillowcases for our great-niece and great-nephews without getting pictures. But I made the pillowcases in each of their favorite colors, and embroidered their names on them.

Ellageo 12-20-2015 04:23 AM

WOW! This is a beautiful quilt! Neanie! Christmas Cactus.

Every year I 'try' to handmake an ornament for my Children & Grandchildren. Every now & then I buy ornaments. This year I asked for a piece of outgrown, worn out, etc clotning. Here are the results! (one family STILL! didn't bring items!!)

Miz Ellie 12-20-2015 04:35 AM

I want to make some dryer balls too. Where did you find directions? Are they 100% wool?

zennia 12-20-2015 05:03 AM

Ellageo I love your idea. What fun they would be to make and give back. I may have to try this.

tucsonquilter 12-20-2015 06:25 AM

All your gifts are so pretty!!!

twinkie 12-20-2015 06:33 AM

I made 5 quilts for Christmas - 4 queen and one king. (I started in January) Also 3 fabric boxes, 2 table toppers, 4 Paducah bags, 2 mug rugs, a pillow, and a partridge in a pear tree!. Once the quilts are gifted, I will post photos of them. Two are Carpenters stars, one is Ashleigh, which I found made up quickly. I made the bags for storage of the quilts in the off season. I also knitted 2 scarves, and from leftover fleece made about 6 scarves for charity. Just don't ask when I vacuumed the living room last!

I am going to Easter Island in January with a stop in Santiago Chile, and hopefully will buy some fabric there. Use it or lose it!!!!

shortcake2012 12-20-2015 08:00 AM

Beautiful. Where did you purchase the kit? I'm a sucker for ante with Christmas colors.

tessagin 12-20-2015 09:11 AM

I'm betting she will be after this. Gorgeous!!

Pat G 12-20-2015 11:50 AM

What are dryer balls?

Quilter 65 12-20-2015 12:13 PM

Everyone's work is so creative. Really like those wallets. Neanie, that is such a beautiful quilt. She will be a quilt woman after she sees this one. Jeanne, your quilts are always so pretty and originally done. EVERYONE thanks for sharing.

gramquilter2 12-20-2015 01:36 PM

Love everyone's projects I made aprons and embroidered dishtowels to go with a cookbook for everyone. No pictures as they have all left home (the gifts).

maminstl 12-20-2015 02:29 PM

The wallet pattern is called the Necessary Clutch Wallet (NCW for short). The pattern can be found at www.emmalinebags.com
They are a lot of fun to make, and there is a very active facebook group with lots of help, variations and some great tips.
I use both twist locks and magnetic snap closures.

I made two lap quilts for my nieces. One niece has two cats, and one decorates with roses.

I also made a few fabric boxes so I could put toffee inside. I gave these to my neighbors.

JanieH 12-20-2015 05:02 PM

Kzimmer - I love your cat quilt. Is there a pattern for it?
