very nice idea.
I got the gingerbread house from Urban Threads n sale for $1.50 it's 3d stand up about 4" x 3 1/2" x 4". it's done on ultra Solvy. Getting a jump on next year too. Please show us when it's done. |
Would the fact that they are different size blocks trip you up. for instance you would have different size panes in your window? Just asking.
|
Great project to look forward to. You will have a whole year to finish it. Good luck...

I think it would look beautiful and look forward to seeing it. I have seen where people cut up panels and put them in attic windows.

http://www.anitagoodesignonline.com/nativity-scene/ You would be sewing the embroidery in blocks....so you would not cut the embroidered blocks....just join them attic window style. I agree the sashing may distort the design and not be happy can you enlarge the picture on this site and cut it apart before you purchase the design? |
To avoid distortion, you could stitch the blocks together then applique the sashing over the "panel" avoiding going over faces, and important portions. I did this on a panel, but it was much smaller than this would be. I used narrow sashing strips. It worked out pretty well.

I have embroidered many of Anita Goodesign's wall hangings. They are heavy but beautiful. If it were me I'd embroider the "C" size, it would be 34" wide x 24" tall. Then as a few borders to it and bind it. It would be a lap quilt instead of a bed quilt. The scene is kind of busy and I think an attic quilt would be too much and the scene would be distorted.

I think turning it into an attic window would probably not work but hope to see the posted results of how it worked for you. I just got the "Night Before Christmas" design by OESD and am stating 2016 gifts too.

There's a lot of food for thought posted so far and I agree it may be difficult to determine what to do so you project isn't distorted HOWEVER, that being said, it should be a WOWZER! Good luck
