Hello, I agree with you, I have 8 nieces and 1 nephew. I received 2 thank you cards from nieces and one from my nephew, so I have cut down on the making of the gifts! I went from making 8 gifts for the "kids" down to 2 and 7 for brothers & sisters (including in-laws) down to 2. So I guess that I am a bit of a scrooge too! Or maybe I'm someone who feels that there is more to gift getting. The Thank you that means a whole lot more to me!

I agree that it is so nice to receive the thank you notes.
it means a lot.

BUT......where were the parents as these kids were growing and and were in the learning stages of life....

Children do learn as their parents teach......

I did a google search for you although I didn't come up w/ a pattern there are a ton of sites w/ lots of ideas. I would think you could trace animal patterns from coloring or kids story books. If my memory serves me right I think the kids and I did this one year, way back when. Have fun.

I agree with this. I use to give my two nieces presents. I began to notice that they would open the gift and throw everything aside and ask "Where is the money?" That was the last year that I gave them anything. I do not plan on ever giving them anything else after that remark. Oh, and by the way they DID learn this from their mom. Now my ex sister in law.

What is an "organizers-in-a-mug?"

They are 12, 12 1/2" blocks with sashing. They are a little smaller that a twin size bed. I actually made my block about 2" square larger because my kids are 6'!

I'm wondering how big do you make lap quilts? I don't know the difference between a lap and a throw quilt. I want to make my brother something using patriotic fabrics I've been collecting.

I got some dk blue fleece at Walmart last night, cheap. Ds and all his friends are into snow mobiling, and so I am making scarves of two thicknesses of fleece. Should keep them REALLY warm under their helmets!
