Christmas Table.... How to quilt?? Hmmm
1 Attachment(s)
Hope these photos come alive here... I am asking if anyone out there has ideas as to how I should quilt these?? And also will I need additional glue to place the iron on crystals? Not sure how well the iron on will work ... probably can't wash them..

Really like this! BArgello?
Love this! Pattern somewhere?
If the iron on crystals don't say whether they are washable or not I would definitely use one of the permanent, washable glues.
As to quilting how about quilting around each tree, then SID around each of the colors? I would start with sid the red area then see how you like the look. Then do the white and green areas if you want. |
You did a great job. I saw this pattern and thought it was terrific. How challenging is it?
That's very pretty!
Lovely!!
I would quilt them both the same way. Outline the tree/ornament and micro stiple around them in the white/black area to make each of them pop and stand out (or some other small filler). SITD around the outer edge of the bargello and either SITD the center between the red and green .. or SITD the center bars of the bargello where it touches the border of the table runner (the thickest and the thinnest bargello columns). |
Both are very beautiful.
I would just do a meander quilting with a thread that blends in so as not to compete with the layout. K |
Both runners are beautiful.
They are so pretty! Great job.
Those are both beautiful!!
Wow these are very pretty . Will make your table very festive. I like them alot.
Both are beautiful! I would outline the trees on the first one and then quilt in swag designs in the Bargello part. I would outline the ornaments in the second one and follow the gold ribbon design in the Bargello.
Mine i have just stitched in the down ditch. I also decided it was going to be quick so my bargello I only moved it down 1/2 way so no matching.
Great job! I have this kit waiting to be put together. Yours look awesome.
Very nice! I'm stumped at how to quilt them! Good luck and would love to see the finished project!

Can't tell you how to quilt them but I sure love them!
You have knocked it out of the park! I'd go with outlining and I would suggest sewing the beads on as opposed to ironing. That way the runners will be totally washable. I'm not a fan of iron on as they usually don't hold and there is always the chance of damaging the fabric.
Love the Ornaments. I seen this pattern in I think Connecting threads book...Very pretty...
You did a wonderful job. I have seen the pattern, but was it hard to do??? I believe a few ours asked that ? too.
I couldn't find either of these at Connecting Threads - what are their pattern names? I just love the tree one and really want to try making one. Yours are fantastic. I love all of the quilting suggestions you have gotten and would love to know which one you choose to do.
Great table runner - love the trees and the ornaments in the second table runner.
Connecting Threads calls it "Dec La Table Runner Kit". You can get just the pattern, or the kit with fabric. It is by Ann Lauer.
Love how you put these together.
I really like both of these, beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You did a beautiful job. Thanks for sharing.
WOW! Those are so pretty! I am horrible at quilting, so defer advice :)
I have the "Dec La Table Runner Kit" with the ornaments, but where did you get the one with the trees? I love it.
These are wonderful! How difficult would it be to make these into mantle runners? I have a client with a HUGE fireplace
that I would like to make a Christmas mantle runner for. It is 87" long so my 2nd question is how long to make the runner? The one with the trees would be perfect since the house is in the mtns. & surrounded by Ponderosa Pines. Thanks for any help. Vickie |

like this idea. |
Love these!..........I would outline the trees and the ornaments and do a small stipple in the white and black then
do a SITD on the Bargello..........I'm not a fan of putting beads or buttons on runners because I like them to lay flat in case they want to put a candle or something else on it. |
I love the one with the trees...I have made one of these runners...time consuming but not very hard...maybe I will add some trees to mine this year or just make another one.....
Very, very nice - and I also love the way you varied the "widths" of the fabric strips in the second one. I gotta try that. Beautiful job! As for quilting ideas, I'll be watching this too. :-)

Connecting Threads has one of them.
Google bargello Christmas Runner and Connecting Threads comes up. The one with the ornaments is there.
There are two patterns left that are being sold by a seller on ebay in case anyone really wants it. It shows both the ornaments and trees in the pattern. That's the same as the Connecting Threads pattern ..... ornaments and trees are included, I believe. It can either have the black or the white background (or anything else your heart desires), your choice. I think the kit being sold at Connecting Threads contains the black background but you would have to check that out to be sure.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400576583830...84.m1438.l2649 Edited: The Connecting Threads kit says it is a quilt as you go pattern so I am wondering if it only needs quilting around the ornaments/trees to finish off? |
Both are beautiful!
