Guess what's next?! Yep, I am going to make an auxiliary sewing room in there. I can't get rid of the bed and baby cradle my husband made for the kids, & grandkids used it too. But I am going to put a sewing machine in there with my ironing and cutting equipment. The room is small, but has 2 nice windows facing south and west so it is cheery. I'll take a pic when I have it set up. Okay, you talked me into it. Here are some pics of what it looks like now with most of the toys gone.

That will make a beautiful auxiliary sewing room.
That will be great! Post pictures when done.
When I grow up I want to have an auxiliary sewing room!
You go grandma!! It's your space now!! They can hang out in the other room and sleep on the couch!!
How great that will be!!
So jealous... As of a couple of weeks ago, I have to share my sewing room with the baby. It's pretty useless - I can't sew when she's asleep, so I have to do what I can when my DH watches her!
Enjoy your room - you have earned it! |
love your room and now you can make it your cool sewing room,
what type of extension do you have on your table to make it taller also you will enjoy the closet to store your fabrics and bookcase for your quilting books and magazines thanks for sharing with all of us |
Looks like a great space!

Cant wait to see!
What a pretty room....you certainly will have fun in there.
after all the clutter is removed you should have plenty of room
for all your sewing stuff. Good luck and happy Quilting! |
Looks like a nice cheery room with lots of natural light. I believe it will make a great sewing room.
Now that all our kids have moved out, I have 2 rooms. One has a bed and dresser set up so the grandkids can spend the night, and the other is my sewing room. I only come out for meals most days. It's great. Sometimes my DH visits, but we never watch the same t.v. programs. He likes politics. Ugh! I would post a picture, but I don't know how. lol

Congratulations on your new sewing room!
Great space!! Congrats. Think outside the box when setting up your sewing stuff. You are looking at a wall when you sew. If you put the back of your machine to the wall, with the cabinet projecting into the room, you could be looking out a window and your project would flow easily off the cabinet instead of banging into the wall. Just a thought. Love your ironing idea. I am happy for you to have a space. Move the crib to the living room. LOL
Good for you! Love your ironing surface!
I agree with Sharoni--move that cradle to the living room (family room, if you have one?)so you can show it off! Too, you need that space under your ironing table for some of those plastic drawer units or a place to store quilting supplies.
Congrats on your "new" sewing room! :)
JUst love the color of that room. As for the glass of wine, refill and enjoy, I like to have wine and wonder how to arrange.
What a great idea. I just did something similar. I have a finsihed basement and last April we had a flood with all the rain. Since then we have fixed it up some, got rid of alot of stuff and I turned the playroom into an extension of my sewing room. I just bought a long arm and it's in there now.
And you have a flat surface on the bed that is large. Enjoy your room. -- J

you will have a great room. You could store projects or UFO's in the cradle useful storage. great closets. Yes the windows will be great light. enjoy.
Very nice room, Lots of light, and I love the cornices on the windows. Have fun making it your space.
Can't wait to see it. I love the windows.
Love the room. have you tried the sewing machine in the corner at a angle where you would sit in the corner looking into the room. you then would have a window on either side of you with lots of light.Maybe keep batting or some plastic bins with thread or acessories in them in the cradle. I think you have lots of possiblities to have fun with. Maybe look up pictures posted here before to get more ideas from.I love the room though, even now unfinished. Have fun with it.You deserve it. Looks like it's a great room for sewing. Lucky you.
I noticed a Grandma's babysitting service pic on the wall. Where did you get it - I'm a babysitting Grandma too - one three years old and one three and a half months old. So they keep me rather busy during the week. Your room looks wonderful. |
Starting to look good, keep showing us your updates.
That's almost as big as my whole place...
nice room!
Love the room! Can't wait will I have a room entirely for me and my sewing. I was using the dining room table but after Christmas I moved everything to my 20 yr old daughter's room. She's at college so I only use 1/2 the room. I have a fold up 6 ft table with my sewing machine at one end and my serger at the other with fabric and supplies stuffed in plastic bins.
Wow, lovely room!
What a pretty room! I have the room now, just need to paint and sew new curtains.
If the grandkids have outgrown the cradle and/or baby bed, you could use them to store fabric. The cradle would be a good place for fat 1/4's. Your room looks great.
That is a bright and cheery room, perfect for your sewing studio!
