What about that fusible sticky crap, when you accidently put the wrong side up???? Help

I bring my iron to the sink, run hot water and use a brillo pad. Been doing that quite literally for decades. Then, last weekend, I found some goo-gone or something like that that my mom had in her supplies after she died. It worked amazingly! I also learned to iron a piece of waxed paper after cleaning to restore that nice glide.
