Recently my mom borrowed my iron, and it got scorched. Is there a way to clean it, or would it be better to replace it. It's a cheap 10 dollar iron from Walmart.

vinegar is great for cleaning an iron. I let my steam iron sit overnight with vinegar in the 'well', and the next morning, I started steaming with it and then dumped out the remainder of the vinegar, and then filled the well with water (filtered water) and let it steam away until I no longer smelled the vinegar. Then dump that out and fill again. I've not had any more problems. Perhaps vinegar will clean the scorched part off the bottom. I assume that's where the scorch is located.

I've heard the Mr. Clean erasers work well to clean the irons although I haven't tried it yet.

You can buy tubes of Faultless iron cleaner at Wal-Mart in the section where the ironing boards and irons are. It works great.

I use a wet Mr clean eraser.. .. Use a white clean towel, on towel place a very damp mr clean - without the cleanser one, just the regular old original one- and 'iron' the eraser.. pressing down slightly.. You can either iron hot or cold.. I use hot, caution: the steam is very hot..

I just wipe mine with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (wet) and it comes right off.

Faultless Hot Iron Cleaner is the best. My LQS had some cleaner "sheets" and they are worthless!

magic erasers work great on irons.
