Color Me fabric by Michael Miller

Ok, this is the rage....how many are actually coloring this line of fabric with fabric markers? I did not color well as a child so this is out! Lol! I never could color within the lines...big surprise.

I bought a half yard of paisley print for my sister who loves to doodle. She is recovering from hip surgery, thus giving her some fun while resting. We are going to cut it into small pieces and make several items for her.

I saw it at my LQS and I love it. Will I do it? Probably not.

I love it. thank you for posting it.

I haven't really looked at it, but I'm going to suggest it to my sister for my niece, and I'm going to get some for my DDIL as a gift. This is a great idea for some non-sewers who will enjoy having a part in making something for their home. Thanks for this thread-I'm off to investigate further! Anyone have an online vendor suggestion with a good selection?

I doubt if I will buy any. Haven't seen it yet.

This is actually not a new concept What I don't like about this MM line (and therefore why I chose not to buy it) are their gender-defining illustrations: girls=princesses and boys=astronauts. Just my opinion.

Maybe they will produce a trans-gender option.

My DD and I were discussing this yesterday. My hands are getting so bad with arthritis I'm having a difficult time changing the presser feet on my machine and pinning anything. I started quilting when I could no longer hold a needle to do needlepoint or cross stitch. Maybe I can still color this fabric so I'll still be able to do some kind of handiwork. DD could use the fabric to quilt. I have dreaded the day for years when my hands or eyes failed me. Eyes are going, but hands are going faster.

Re: gender discussion. It seems to me [IMHO] that we who are creative, can disregard the suggestions and look outside the box. Isn't that what we do when we change a pattern or design to suit our own needs and desires?

And to Sandygirl -- how about doing your version of coloring (chilldlike style) on a suitable print and make a child's item with the fabric. I was a first grade teacher many moons ago and I still love kids' work.
