Is teal the same as turquoise..because I like them both with dark brown!

I love turqouise, but NEVER have thought to use it with lavender!! I always see in with browns or whites. I think I might try the levender combination.

I don't usually come across a color I don't like so I blame the dress! |
I like that color with orange. I guess I loved the 70's.

Back in the 60's I had my bedroom done in turquoise, orange and brown. I was single and didn't have to answer to anyone about my decorating taste. I'm not sure I'd go with that color pallette now.

Hey catlady, I love tourquoise too, when we go to Cottonwood in our little travel trailer we always go to Sedona, I come home with something tourqouise, my wedding ring is tourquoise, I married 5 years ago after my former husband of 50 some years died of cancer,I took my husband 's mothers ring for my ring , It gets me plenty of compliments too, I see plenty of tourquoise in the sky, gold and red in the sunsets and purple in the mountains, Black and tourquoise is absolutely beautiful, I am going to make a very large black and tourquoise wall hanging with pots, lizards ,cactus ,flowers ,and who knows what else or what other colors will go into it

I have favorite colors that I have always liked and some I just can't stand. I buy what I like regardless of what the latest color is. This also relates to fabric patterns. I am definitely not a geometric person; however, there are times that I find one that I do like that seems to fit the bill. I am definitely not a trend follower. I buy what I feel comfortable with in all areas including clothing, furnishings, etc.

I know, the colors of the sky in Arizona are amazing. We used
to go through Arizona on our way to Las Vegas to see my mom. I even managed to get some pictures one year of the sky at sunset, the reds and pinks were gorgeous. Sadly my mom passed away 3 years ago so we don't get out west anymore. Now my hubby wants to go to Florida and go to the Epcott Center again. Talk about changing directions!! |
It's a good thing I'm confident enough that what is trendy doesn't matter to me.
I've been working (well, on and off) on a quilt for our older daughter for over a year that is brown and shades of turquoise. It should have taken only a couple of days - big, chunky pieces, no triangles or stars... Nothing traditional at all, actually. Between the color and the style, I have to force myself to do it! |
I LOVE Turquoise!! I own a ring that NEVER comes off my finger, that my grandmother bought out west in 1927, and gave it to her cousin. Her cousin gave it to me as a gift when I turned 12, and my grandmother was so unhappy, thinking I wasn't responsible enough to own it yet. I am going to be 45 in March, and I have 'lost' it once!!!
As to fabric, my stash is already crazy heavy toward the turquoise/teal/light blue/purple range, so this is probably going to be an expensive year for me!!! LOL I have a theory on fabric... (see my blog, HERE... for more!! http://aliaslaceygreen.wordpress.com...9/fabric-401k/) I am buying the Hoffman Challenge as soon as my LQS re-opens in their new location at the end of the week... |
