i am redoing a bedroom in my house it wil be my new sewing room because i am needing more space (( imagine that )) but my question is what color are the walls in your sewing rooms ? i wanted to paint my walls yellow someting bright and cheerful but my sister says that i should paint the entire room white that way when looking at my material i will get the true color of them in the room if it is whita as opposed to it being yellow has anyone heard of this before or know anything about this ?

Thanks

My sewing room is my family room and so it is light blue with white trim and a whole wall of white cabinets.

As much as I love bright colours, I must admit my sewing room has neutral colour walls, and they will be staying that way. When I pin something up on the wall, or hang it over a rail, nothing competes for my attention, it's a neutral background.

I wouldn't go for pure white, it's too clinical and cold. But a variation of white, something just off white, is a good idea.

My walls are pale blue and it works well, though it is a big room and a very high ceiling (which is white) She is correct about the yellow. Though I don't htink that I would do white

The walls in my room are tangerine. NOT my choice. We rent, so we deal with what is here.
In the room I had, before I swapped rooms, it was a rosy mauve.

My sewing room is a medium tan color with a rose tint. Very relaxing and I have no conflict with matching colors. I sure wouldn't pick stark white. Get a color you are comfortable with. Then watch your sewing, not the walls!

While I am a fan of bright colors, for a sewing room I prefer a very soft beige
neutral, doesn't affect the color of a project you may be working on. I know that yellow, in particular reflects back on everything in the room, giving it a "golden tint". The brighter the yellow, the more reflection. Likewise pink will give a rosy tint on reflected surfaces.

I would pick a color that would make me feel good being in the room. One that would make me feel inspired, but not overwhelming. 8)

I have pink wallpaper, doesn't bother me at all, still can see what colors I'm sewing on just fine. Stick with what you like, you will be in there a lot hopefully.

I have yellow walls. Nice and cheery! My fabric colors look the same to me in any room.
