What a gorgeous quilt! I love it! Just beautiful!
i like MarthaT's suggestion regarding borders. Tiny yellow border first, then the wider purple. I would then bind it in the turquoise. |
I would add borders to that lovely quilt in whatever color you like best, or use all 3! Have fun.
I love the quilt, and would probably add a purple border, but any way at all would look great.
I vote for no boarders beautiful quilt
I think it would look very nice with some borders. Also the ones that you have picked will set it off well.
Your quilt is gorgeous - what lovely batiks. Personally, I would put a narrow yellow border with a larger purple border to finish it off and make it bigger. Not all quilts need borders, however, I think a border would add so much to this quilt, to frame it.
beautiful, I would add a dark blue or black border would make the quilt pop and not draw you to the lighter and brighter border.. Love those batiks and such a nice pattern Great work, thanks for sharing
I would put borders on. I like the way they frame a quilt, and they also create the drop that keeps the quilt on the bed
it looks like the edges of your quilt have created it's own border. it is beautiful.
I would put the purple first then the gold then the blue.
Love your quilt, it is beautiful!!! The colors are beautiful, I would use whatever your heart desires.
I love all the colors. The gold makes it pop & add another color, but I like all three. BEAUTIFUL!!! |
wow awesome

Your quilt is beautiful. If you prefer the borderless look then I would create another row of blocks each way until the top is the size you wanted.

Not much help here. That is a very lovely quilt, so whatever you do, will work. Let us see this when you decide.
Beauiful quilt. I love your colors. I always put borders on my quilts, I agree that it frames the centers like a piece of fine art. I think I'd prefer to see a darker color on the inside in a narrow border to set it off and then a wider border to finish it. JMHO :^)
Whichever color border you pick would be great, however I'd suggest to add a piping or skinny flange of the orangey-red next to the binding or between the body of the quilt and your border.
beautiful colors! It will look good either way.. the purple already forms a boarder.. like to see what you decide to do:)
Like our beautiful state you have created a beautiful quilt. I'm in favor of borders because as one member said, it frames the work..." I'm a big fan of the two colors you have laying in your second photo. Picks up the color in the quilt without overpowering it, a perfect fit. You did an amazing job, be proud!
I vote for the three colors.
Gorgeous quilt, I'd be lost about the border as well.
Your quilt is beautiful! Love your color choices.
I'm not a particular fan of borders but think they can definitely enhance a quilt when used judiciously. My personal preference is for a darker border as the primary one, with perhaps either a very dark or a light/bright as a narrow inner border. For this one I would have the narrow inner border the bright gold then the widest border the purple and use the aqua for binding. (To me this more closely keeps the proportions color wise of he rest of the quilt). Although it would also look good with the aqua as the wider border and the purple as binding. |
That sounds good to me. Not the same width.

I'd go with a narrow purple, then a wider gold. That, of course, depends on your binding color.

Your quilt is awesome. To make it larger, I would use 2 of the colors for borders and the 3rd color for the binding.
This is a very busy quilt. A small border and then a larger border would calm the quilt down a little.
I guess it would depend where the quilt lies on the bed... if it needs to be a bit bigger to hang over enough then I think a border is necessary. However, your quilt top is beautiful just the way it is so... if it is already plenty long/wide enough to hang over, you may not want to add a border.
Funny I posted that comment because I always put a border on my quilts.... but I love the look of yours with or without a border! |
I would take my 2nd favorite color in the quilt and do a small border, then a larger border of my most favorite color. Perhaps putting a corner stone of the alternating color. Beautiful quilt.
the 3 colors yellow ,blue and purple
I still like borders ! I like the three colors, I'd have to play with the size of each border. Beautiful!
Me, too. And I like the three fabrics you have auditioned. froggyintexas

I love the quilt, beautiful colors. And of course, Colorado skies (I'm from CO)! I think a yellow, or gold, border would frame it very nicely but not detract from the center of quilt.
I think the three colors would be great, but I would change the sizes of the strips. Like 1,3,5. Make each a little different size.
I would most definitely do a border keeping in mind to use a color that blends well in order to let the design stand out. Maybe a small inner with the gold and then larger outer border with the dark blue.
I would do a framing 1-2 inch border in the tourqois or yellow then a border in one of the other colors.

Good morning my QB friends. Hope you are all doing well this morning. I need help deciding whether to add borders to my Colorado Skies quilt. The pattern did not call for borders, just binding, but I would like to make the quilt a little larger without, but don't want to take anything away from the look of the quilt. Thanks for your advice.
If it was my quilt I would like a skinny gold then a wide purple. Just my humble opinion. ;-)
