Let us know what you learn in the foam printing class. It sounds interesting.

I've been studying the book, Art + Quilt, by Lyric Kinard, along with about 40 guild members this year in preparation for Lyric's visit and workshops at our quilt show in September. It is so much fun to try different techniques to make art quilts.

Nine Steps to success using Derwent Inktense Pencils

Using Inktense Pencils on Fabric (Derwent literature)
http://www.pencils.co.uk/files/uploa...rature/671.pdf

Colour the whole piece and let it dry for approx 24 hours to ensure it has set properly.

Once dry, heat set it with an iron on the wool setting, using a piece of calico between the iron and the work to protect the quilt. Press and hold for about 20 seconds at a time. Do not be too forceful a gentle action is all that is required.

The fabric medium makes the image stiff which is ideal for a hanging piece, however if you prefer a softer feel, the stiffness will release upon washing (on a cool wool setting) without damaging the colours.

Ohhhh, we just returned home from our vacation. My Inktense Pencils arrived while we were gone. Can't wait till I get things put away so I can play with the colored pencils and fabric. The colors look so rich, I wish I had ordered more or a bigger set. What I did order will give me a good start. :-D :-D I feel like a kid!

Simply breathtaking! I love it.
Attached is a photo closeup of a quilt which won the big award at Vermont Quilt Festival. according to the attendant who was guarding the quilt, the reason it was so heavily stippled was to cover the fabric coloring pens the quilter used which bled into the fabric beyond the boundaries.
I don't understand any of this! I merely pass on the words of others! :)
