Colors that go with salmon peachy pink

I ran into a wonderful deal on fleece at Walmart. Problems is - it's a salmon peachy pink color.

I make quilts which are sold to raise funds so I like them to be a bit unisex to appeal to a wider audience. I'm mentally stuck on what color tops will go with this fleece which I'd love to use as a batting/backing combo.

It's not a real pinky pink, the peachy salmon colors are stronger.

I looked at a color wheel and I see the opposite colors are green and yellow which would be unisex.

However I know that blue and orange also look nice together and I don't see that combo on the color wheel. So is there some other great combo that I'm not thinking of?

Thanks!

Royal blue, perhaps ? Grey .

QuiltnNan 01-13-2018 12:48 PM

i might try browns

cjsews 01-13-2018 12:51 PM

Yes, a new blue. My grandmother made blocks with blue and different pink pinwheels. I found a salmon color that looked fantastic as cornerstones and an inner border.

JenniePenny 01-13-2018 12:52 PM

I love royal and navy blue with peachy colors.

KenmoreGal2 01-13-2018 12:56 PM

Great ideas!! I would not have thought of blue, gray or brown. Thanks!!

Garden Gnome 01-13-2018 02:32 PM

soft turquoise

Tartan 01-13-2018 02:50 PM

Peach and turquoise go well together, think Florida colours or Southwest Pueblo colours.

bearisgray 01-13-2018 02:55 PM

some browns. most blue- greens and blues. possibly a reddish burgundy.

KenmoreGal2 01-13-2018 03:12 PM

Oh, I love the turquoise idea! I have turquoise fabric too!!

And reddish burgundy - I would not have come up with that myself!

Great ideas here! Thanks.

I also was thinking of southwestern colors to go with it. If you look in a google search for those type of quilts, I am sure they would show a soft sage green and a sky blue too. Also perhaps a rusty orange clay color.

bearisgray 01-13-2018 03:25 PM

some purples would work, too.

KenmoreGal2 01-13-2018 03:36 PM

You guys are great!! Thanks! I have so many options now - not just pink!

Dolphyngyrl 01-13-2018 03:42 PM

Purple and green go well. The purple I have used is kind of a plum color

Ioftheneedle 01-13-2018 04:51 PM

I vote for auqa or a form of green

cashs_mom 01-13-2018 05:01 PM

Salmon-y pinks go with a lot of things. Blues, either navy or a medium blue, turquoise, sage green, browns. Have fun!

notmorecraft 01-13-2018 11:58 PM

Browns and teal

JJBlaine 01-14-2018 12:27 AM

Depending on the shade, I would go with a teal or minty green. I just love how those go with peachy-colors!

The first thing that came to my mind was a photo I took of the sun rise over the ocean.....peachy salmon colors mixed with buttery golden colors, and various shades of deep blue mixed with lighter blues against the dark ocean water with the sun rays reflecting off the water. Google sunrise photos to see if that helps you with colors like I am describing. Sorry I don't have a digital photo to post.

Light grey is my new background color.

KenmoreGal2 01-14-2018 05:36 AM

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I bought about 6 yards of this fleece and it's about 70 inches wide so I can do a lot of quilts with it. It was $ 1 a yard!! I can make one quilt with each color suggestion!!

Keep them coming if you have more. I'm writing them all down and storing them with the fleece.

meanmom 01-14-2018 05:48 AM

I don't exactly follow the color wheel. Just lay fabric by it and see what you like. Royal or navy blue and a bright lime green could be pretty. It all depends on the exact color of the Salmon.

Snooze2978 01-14-2018 06:02 AM

I would think brown would go with pinky peach. Someone mentioned blue and orange too.

Jeanne S 01-14-2018 06:41 AM

Navy blue would be my choice.

klswift 01-14-2018 08:33 AM

I would go with your gut. Go to a fabric store, OPEN UP BOLTS, lay your fabric across several fabrics and see which feel better. We are usually correct when we go with our first impressions. (Do not just hold up the edge of a fabric with the tiny bit showing at the edge of the bolt. There is too much other colors interfering with the view. Open the fabric up a bit and lay them out together.)

Mariposa 01-14-2018 08:35 AM

I'd say navy or royal blue.... :)

Kitsie 01-14-2018 08:50 AM

A nice medium gray?

MaggieLou 01-14-2018 11:32 AM

Seafoam green would go well too. As would purple.

madamekelly 01-14-2018 11:39 AM

Peachy looks really good with a sea foam green.

*ooops. Maggie Lou beat me to this idea.

My neighbor made one of the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen it was peach, brown and cream.

cathyvv 01-14-2018 01:15 PM

The right brown might also look good, as brown and pink and brown and orange look good together. Maybe a fall quilt is an answer, too.

The color wheel doesn't rule my world. In fact, it can't because I am color blind!

petthefabric 01-14-2018 02:36 PM

Peach reminds me of Spring: buttery cream, yellow, torquoise, spring green

It also makes me think of fall: rust, dark periwinkle, plum, golden yellow, fall green, brown-warm

My favorite combination is salmon, periwinkle and lime

Iwantasew 01-14-2018 03:29 PM

Aqua is beautiful with coral.

mstalnaker 01-14-2018 04:55 PM

I just finished one for my granddaughter with this color. Added White, Gray, and a soft aqua. It turned out quite nice.

I just finished a UFO with salmon-peachy pink flowers on a black background with limey and dark green leaves.

Yellow and/or turquoise for a tropical look.

LavenderBlue 01-15-2018 05:11 AM

My first thought is sage or mint green. Congrats on your great find!

KenmoreGal2 01-15-2018 05:16 AM

Thanks to all for continuing to make suggestions! I'm paying attention.

All the replies are being cut and pasted into a document which will live with the fleece. That way I can make a bunch of quilts with that fleece, all in different colors!

Hi, When I saw your post, I thought immediately of some pillowcases I've been saving forever because I love the colors. It's definitely feminine, but the colors are just gorgeous. If it interests you, I'll mail it to you. You can send it back when you're finished with it.

The colors show a little darker than they are in real life, but are close besides that.

KenmoreGal2 01-15-2018 12:57 PM

Thanks for the offer bkay. You're sweet. <3

I don't think it will be necessary to mail the pillowcases though, I can see that the peach really looks good with the blue. Very nice!

It also reminds me I have some small pieces of fabric with Asian themes like yours and I believe it's browns and peaches. So I actually had a great color combo right in my stash but forgot about it.

Your picture highlights that there's a world of difference between a baby blue and pink combo and a dark blue and coral combo. The latter is very nice!
