Thanks for posting the company e-mail. I would love to use Best Press but it's cost prohibitive. I'm taking a class where it is strongly suggested Best Press be used. I use it on the class project but use Niagra starch when needed and the work up the fabric so it doesn't have a chance to get buggy. Living in a dry climate may help. Never too old to learn.

Interesting. Now, I have a question. Once fabric is starched how long are you letting it set before using? I pretty much starch just before cutting and sewing. Once quilt is finished, I wash it. Doesn't that wash the starch out? I never starch and then store my fabric. I have not had any problems(yet).

exactly! why starch it if you are just letting it SIT....I don't even starch my linens until I am ready to use them any more!
BUT it is good to know that the product I use the most is STARCH free!

I have always used Magic Sizing. I like it for my quilts for sure, but I like it for regular ironing, too. I like to wear cotton blouses and the Magic Sizing makes them so much easier for ironing. I REALLY like the price, too.

I don't leave starched fabric sitting around, but I really appreciate your taking the time to give us this information. Thanks!

I was at Hancock's today and they were really pushing Mary Ellen's, they had a ton of it so I can understand the need to sell some of it. But at $6 a bottle I thought it a bit pricey. One was lavender scented and I almost bought it, but decided it was still too expensive. Thank you for posting the information about starch. I printed it out and will keep it for future reference. I like to use spray starch on wall-hanging quilts. Now I know which one to buy!

I've used almost every starch/sizing out there, including making my own. I find I like Best Press the most, especially the unscented one. I add 6-8 oz. of water to the 16 oz. bottle and it lasts a lost longer and works just as well as full strength.

Thanks for the information. I have been using the sizing for years and just love it.
