Thank you for posting that. But my reason for liking Mary Ellens Best Press is also that it is NOT in an aerosol can. I don't like those chemicals polluting my air, because I have allergies to certain chemicals. It may cost me a little more to use it but I just don't want those propellents around.

So if those last three do not contain 'natural corn starch', what kind of starch do you suppose they DO contain since they are all called starch? Just wondering.

Has any quilter on this board ever actually had insects in their stored quilts?

Silverfish will turn up around anything that has cellulose....ie the glue needed to seal boxes...cereal boxes. cracker boxes.
Unless you are storing your quilts in a damp place, kitchen, or food pantry...I doubt you should worry.
Most home owners keep their homes treated or at least use sprays on all outside door thresholds etc.
I would like to know if anyone has discovered pests in their quilts....not grandmother's quilts where damp locations have been used. As for starches, I prefer the Faultless line...no white residue....love the MAXX STARCH.

I started stashing fabric in 2008 and I washed, starched & ironed all of it then as I'd read that's what you're "supposed" to do. I've used spray starch as well as liquid starch I mixed up myself. I still have some of that fabric and I've never seen any bugs. I know there's none hiding in there either as I'm in the process of refolding all of it onto the mini-bolts. Just wondering if any of you have actually had this bug problem with your fabric? Did the bugs eat the fabric? BTW, I no longer starch & iron every piece when it comes in the house, but I do wash & fold.
