It looks like once you sew them into rows. then you match the second row to the first right sides together. Matching the curves and intersections. Hope this helps It can be frustrating when the patterns do not make any sense. I am a visual learner and I ahve to commend you on doing this pattern!

Looking at the pic of the quilt, see where they have HALF a cone at the end of every other row? That will even out the rows.
Now, looking at the colored line drawing, where the TOP of two curves connect, that intersection will match the point of the cone in the bottom row. So, I would cut out one cone, and put two rows together and see how this works for you. Pinning is important here. Use pins to match up your "points" before you sew. Hope the helps a little. |
I am on one site where you can't post direct links to pdf file,s that is why I didn't know if you I could. Everyone has different rules. Thanks for answering the questions.

I think I would try making diamonds,
and then making diagonal rows of the diamonds, and then sewing the diagonal rows together. Like one does when sewing blocks on point together. |

Yep, that is how I would do it too.
Was getting ready to post that when I saw your post. Great minds think alike |

Bearsgray...you are SO right. Your way makes more sense and a heck of a lot easier!

I haven't actually DONE it - so I can't vouch for the practicality of my suggestion.
But I think it would be easier than the way shown on that other site. My drawing could have been better, but I think I conveyed the idea. And now I think of some refinements that I should/could have made to it. Oh,well. |
What a great way to use scraps. thanks
