Although I love their prints, the only time I ordered (a kit), I didn't like the majority of the fabric. Luckily, I have lots of other options readily available locally.

Love their fabrics, and I've ordered several fabrics from them. I wouldn't call them "medium quality" fabrics at all. I think they're very good quality. They prewash well, and sew up beautifully. Have never had a problem with them, and would definitely order them again.

I have always been happy with fabric that Ih ave purchased from them.
|
I ordered fabric from them a few years ago and wasn't pleased with it and gave it away to a gal here on the board. But that was a few years ago. They must have changed since then. I will try them out again and see if they improved. I don't care for Keepsake quilting. I like Fat Quarter Shop a lot. Every time I order a kit from them, they send so much extra fabric and I'm always very pleased with what they send me. I can count of them.

I have made several purchases from them and have always been pleased, their customer service has always been good. I only wish they would post to the UK (although I don't know how good that would be for my back balance).

I love their fabric. I think it is far superior to any hobby store fabric or Walmart. I love to watch for sales and really stock up. Their thread is wonderful too!
|
ok not a Walmart hater just wont buy fabric there :) and there is a quality difference between low cost fabrics in say Walmart and Jo Anns. Most major manufacturers have different qualities of the SAME print. The thread count is a big one. The lower priced fabrics tend to also have a lower thread count according to one quilt store I love in CA. The time we put into a quilt or should I say the time I put into a quilt matters to me as does the fabric. I need it to last as I am one heck of a slow quilter!
Also my take on connecting threads: love their batiks. Nice soft fabrics. Love their prints some are soft some are not as soft depends I guess on the day they were made :) the solids I do not care for nor do I like the FEEL of the blenders/mirage. Too stiff and I find they fade easily. Just my opinion. I would go back for blenders. Oh their slow shipping is seriously slow. Took over 2 weeks to receive which is seriously not reasonable. |
I received my order from them yesterday and am very pleased with the table runner kit. The prints are nice and the feel is very nice, smoothly finished and nice weight. Happy so far! (will be a Christmas gift for DD, hope it washes well)

I think most CT fabric is great. I stick to my LQS or online shops that I trust. Every once in a while I'll get a piece from CT that I don't care for, but the vast majority of the time I am pleased with what I get. Connecting Threads is my go to place for fabric for backings. Love getting 8 yds of fabric for $40. I made a drunkards path quilt entirely from fat quarter collections from CT and it turned out beautifully, minimal shrinkage after washing and no color running. I was in warm after I finish the quilt just to make sure the recipient doesn't get a nasty surprise if they forget to use cold water.

I only bought fabric once from CT. It was from one of their collections last spring and I absolutely fell in love with the fabric, so I had to have it for the backing of one of my quilts. I had heard good things about them, so I didn't hesitate to place the order. You can't imagine my surprise when it arrived looking not even close to what was on their website. The color was totally different (I know there are differences in monitors, but this wasn't even close), the hand was flimsy and the fabric was poorly woven. It would never have stood up to any wear, much less washing many times. I called immediately and they said I could return it, at my cost of course, and that they would refund what I paid for the fabric, less their shipping costs. They sent a refund a couple of weeks later, but it was a very disappointing experience, just the same. I don't think I will order fabric from them again
I have ordered from Fabric.com with great results, from Thousands of Bolts and from Annie's, as well, with no problems. I have a couple of favorite online sites where I can order without worrying about the quality or price. I also order my thread from a couple of online sites because I only use Aurifil and even with shipping it is less expensive per spool than my LQS. I am not saying you should not order from CT, just that I wouldn't take the chance, again. |
I've ordered a lot of fabric from Connecting Threads. You can't beat the price! The quality is a little shy of the quilt shop fabrics, but not bad.
|
I have a bunch and I feel the quality is very good. Like the old commercial says "try it, you might like it."
|
I just put an order in - and I'm so excited to get my package! :)
|
Hate to admit it but I am a fabric SNOB...If the fabric does not "feel" good, look good, and is not sufficiently "thick" (no see thru here), then I just will not get it, regardless where or how much a yard........I have purchased both kits and yardage from Connecting Threads and I have been more than satisfied with every purchase.
|
LOVE ordering from them. The fabric is good quality and their customer service is beyond belief. I've ordered several kits from them and will again when I see one I "can't live without". I got a kit one time that was short on one of the pieces of fabric, called them and they sent me an entire piece of the fabric that was cut short. You can't beat that for customer service!

Connecting Threads is my go to place for most of my fabrics and thread. Love CT.

Connecting threads fabrics are really great. Since we don't have fabrics made in U.S.A., it has to come from somewhere. |

Is the fabric from Connecting Threads good quality? I just got their catalog for the first time and their fabrics look beautiful. Solid fabric for $4.96 a yard?? Is it thin, does it feel rough? If it is quality fabric then I'm going to have to make my first on-line fabric purchase!!!

I absolutely agree.
|
I've been buying from CT's for quite a while now. I buy all my fabric, kits, and thread from them. I've never been disappointed. I've always had good service from them. Give them a try.
|
I'm a bit of a fabric snob, but like CT fabric. It has a nice hand. It doesn't seem to have the complex designs that some fabric lines have. It also washes nicely and holds up well.
|
I ordered from them for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I found the fabric to have a very nice feel, colors where a tiny bit different from what I thought the catalog showed, but close enough for me to use. There was a mistake with my order, but I immediately called CT and a very polite gentleman took my information and I had the missing cut of fabric 4 days later. GREAT service! I will certainly order from them again.

I like CT fabric - I agree it's not top quality but it's definitely on the happy side of the "good/bad" scale.
I don't buy their marble fabric anymore, though - that fabric shows wear really quickly. I used some in a bargello that has a mix of all types of fabrics from all over and the CT marble is showing obvious wear and none of the other fabrics are (including the ones from Joanne's). I don't think the fabric itself is wearing thin; I think it's the marble print that's coming off. (The quilt is 10 months old and probably has been washed about 7 or 8 times. It gets nearly daily use!) The two CT batiks that are in that same quilt, on the other hand, still look brand new! Black & dark purple and both are still rich and gorgeous. I've used their prints, solids, marbles, flannels and batiks; the marbles are the only ones I don't buy anymore. I also buy their quilt backing fabric and their laminates. (Though I wish they had a bigger selection of both, particularly the quilt backing) And (like someone else said) I love that their pre-cuts are same price as regular yardage. |
