This was a Joann Fabric's BOM that I never got all the pieces for so it became a UFO. I had a lightbulb moment the other day and decided to turn it into either a baby quilt or doll quilt for a friend's kiddo. I had one heck of a time finding complementary fabric but alas, it's come together.
I am debating adding another small white border around the outside of the quilt. What do you think? Binding is dark green. FYI-This is my 100th post :D |
Bind and finish.
And GREAT save! What parts did you have to "create" to fill it out? Just the borders? Looks like it all came from the same kit. And congratulations on your 100th post! |
What are the measurements of that block?

Oh, and it is a very pretty block and a good way to get a UFO off your list!

Sorry, what is the "final" measurement of what you took a picture of?

You can always use the two extra blocks on the back. |
Very pretty, well done.

Wow! That certainly is a wonderful transformation. I never would have guessed your beginning point from your end point. It all ties together so nicely that I actually though that it was just a single, compicated block.
I personally like the binding to "show" in most cases. For me, that way it doesn't feel like the quilt just falls away. The binding feels like a frame to me. With the measurements you gave me, it feels to me like it would be reasonable and not get too big if you added the white border or even any colour not dark green and then the green binding would pop out and frame it. It is a wonderful quilt and a great save. i am sure that whomever gets it will love it. Tara |
You might want to try a binding with a "faux" piping of the whithe plus whichever color you choose for the binding itself. Here's a tutorial of the "faux" piping binding I'm talking about:

I can't believe you had to ask! That is lovely, and a nice save if I might add.
I think the small white border would be a nice frame for it. It looks beautiful. Love the colors.
I agree with all the comments - you've done a great job. We call these "orphan" blocks in our house, and we keep them all.
I think whatever you decide to do will be ok, you've obviously got lots of creative juices flowing. |
I think a border would be fabulous. It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Very pretty. Just bind
Would make a beautiful table runner - I really like it.
An incredible save. You made the quilt blossom!!!
Great save.....I love it!!! :-D
Lovely, just lovely! If it were mine, I would add a white border then the dk green binding.
What a way to finish the UFO!
How cute.
Cute! Good idea.
That really looks good. I don't think I'd add a border. Just bind it with some very dark pink or red to match the dark in your center blocks.
Great job of making lemonade out of lemons!!
Great just the way it is. Just finish it.
I just love it!!! Not a "traditional" baby quilt, but it will be much loved & appreciated by your recipient.
You did a charming job tying it all together. Beautiful & Sweet! ?? use the leftover blocks on the backing? |
Wow! Great nearly FO! Quilt, bind with either the maroon or dark green. Love it
Love those colors. Made lemonade out of lemons! Love it!
Would also make a nice wall hanging or a center piece for the table. add a few candle sticks and a box of chocolates and give it as a gift. that's one christmas gift done early
I agree. very sweet.
Love it
