Cord minder for iron?

I just learned that there is something called a cord minder that attaches to your ironing board to help keep the cord of the iron out of the way. I have been researching those online, and the reviews are mixed.

I am very interested to hear from anyone who uses one and I would like a recommendation for which one to purchase.

I have a vague memory of my mother having one, but I don't remember ever using it. I ironed a lot as a kid, so may be it didn't work out well and she put it up or something.

Any opinions would be very welcome. I read about this cord minder yesterday on another thread. I always learn so much from this board!

I bought this one at walmart years ago. I use it everyday. I love it. At $10.00, give it a try:

I have an old Mary Proctor Double Flip, which has a built in 14" tall minder with a plug. I use it occasionally, but I find the 'eye' (1" in diameter) that you thread the cord thru to be a little restrictive. when I thread the cord thru that it sometimes hangs up. When I do use it, I use a loop of seam binding to make a larger guide. I got the board at a garage sale, and I'm a bit leery of the electric hookup, so I plug the iron into the wall.

I used to have one similar to this one, but it annoyed me because the cord wasn't "free" and I was always pulling at it.... Gone! http://www.quiltersreview.com/iron-cord-holder/

I tried one too and didn't like it. The cord was out of the way but it was hard to get to the end of the board without fiddling with it.

I have never used a cord minder but never thought I had a problem.

I had one that came with my Laura Star Steam Generator. It worked great. I haven't used one with my Oliso, I don't seem to have problems with that iron's cord. Not sure why.

I've had mine for years but found my cord would still get messed up with the fabric the farther I went across the ironing board. So I hung mine up on my iron holder I have attached to the wall. I also added an extension cord to give me enough length in my cord to take me to the end of my ironing board as I added a 2' x 4' board over my regular ironing board. Still gets trapped from time to time but not as bad as it used to.
