Cotton Bobbin thread

Does anyone have a source for plastic Class 15 pre-wound cotton bobbins? I suppose I'm just lazy, but I really like the free-wound bobbins. I have lots for my embroidery machine, but I prefer to use cotton instead of polyester for piecing.

Try checking out Superior Threads' site.

I use Superior pre wounds.

Thanks for info. Do you not have problems with the cardboard bobbin?

No. I've used them both in my traditional side-loaded bobbin machine and my drop-in bobbin machine without issue.

I take the cardboard off.

Thanks for info. I'll see about ordering some!

My friend has the Janome 500E and gets the pre-wound bobbins. Found they fit my Babylock and Brother machines so she gives me the empties when she's done. Sure beats buying more bobbins for the machines. Might check to see if Janome sells cotton pre-wound.

I use Superior Threads pre-would bobbins and really like them. I have been using them for a couple years and have had no problems at all.

I have stayed away from pre-wound bobbins because I bought a package at a quilt show once and it was worthless. There were 6 bobbins and the thread broke in my hands in all 6. Since it was a vendor at a show I was not able to return it and I couldn't even use the thread to baste a quilt because it broke so easy when pulling it thru the fabric. My sister bought some too and had the same problem.
So know where you buy it so if the thread is bad you can return it.

I have looked at Janome and at other sites and found lots of pre-wound polyester thread, but no cotton in the right size bobbin. I think I'll try going to a Janome dealer this weekend. Thanks for all the input.

Marymm: I've had the same problem, you can't seem to find the class 15 in cotton, which both amazes and frustrates me. I'll be sure to watch this to see if someone comes up with a place..

Gramajo: btw...Superior Threads don't come in cotton either...too bad

I just put in this search at the superior threads site: Search: Prewound, size 15 bobbins, cotton thread.
Received this message: "Sorry, we couldn't find any matches."

In the description it says they are poly -- I have looked all over and can't find cotton pre-wound in bright colors. I have found the white/gray but not the bright colors for the quilting.

I just ordered the pre-wounds from Allbrands....had to get 80, but that's OK. Thanks, Margiepc!
