Hello Everyone. i have been seeing all of the great things that you have been finding on Criag's list. Well, today was my day.
The posting said whole sewing room for sale $50. Well I called and asked if she was firm on the $50 and she said heck no. I could have it all for $25 if I came today and picked it up. She had to put her grandmother in assisted living quarters and she couldn't take all of her sewing things. Several of her friends had taken a few things but there was still lots more. We went to pick it up and we had a van almost completely loaded to the top. There were several boxes of cotton scraps and yardage, several large bags of batting pieces plus one new Warm & Natural queen size batt. She was apparently a home decorator as there were several boxes of upholstery fabric plus lots of odds and ends. I am so, so excited.

I live in Springfield and always check CL for here and surrounding areas. I saw that ad and wished I lived closer. Glad you got it for a good price. You just never know what you're going to get. Have fun!!

Congrats on your find. Lucky you. I can never find anything on our craigslist here locally. I will be in Chicago visiting my family next week, maybe I can find some good buys there.

That is a great score!!

I did something close to that when I hit an estate sale and bought the entire sewing room. I had 3 machines, a new sewing table, a boat load of fabric (lots of it was still on bolts) and I got it all for $500. I sold one sewing machine and the table for $1500 while I was loading it all up. So I went to a sale and made $1000 + boat load of fabric for looking.

What a happy but sad experience. Happy for you and her daughter but sad for her to have everything and then nothing. Poor dear, hope she never knows.
